I'm a Picky Shopper and Think This Is the Best High-Street Drop Right Now
Long before Arket and & Other Stories started serving up elevated, design-savvy staples to their adoring fans, Whistles was there, peddling away its wares in a mid-market space that, for a long time, remained relatively unoccupied. It's a brand that acknowledged there was a demand for higher-quality pieces that were more accessible than designer buys but also a step above the super-low-priced high-street brands. Forty-five years after it first opened its doors, Whistles remains a mainstay on the great British high street.
This season is no exception, and if I'm honest, it's my favourite to date. It was the patchwork denim pieces from Whistles' Limited Edition line that particularly caught my eye, with their clean-lined silhouettes and expensive-looking tonal fabrics. Inevitably, I then scrolled through the rest of the collection, and I lost count of the number of items I added to my mental wish list, from a tie-dye silken co-ord and a perfect white denim jumpsuit to a neck-tie blouse with the most amazing balloon sleeves.
Toeing the line between trend and timeless, Whistles has really ticked all the boxes with its spring/summer edit. Together, all of my favourite pieces from the drop essentially form a ready-made capsule that can be layered up, dressed down and mixed and matched. I'll be wearing my patchwork jeans with the matching jacket when I want to pack some personality, styled with a white tee and chunky sandals for low-effort weekend attire and elevated for Friday night drinks with heeled boots and a button-up blouse. So many options, so little time. Scroll down to see and shop my favourite pieces from the Whistles S/S 21 edit.
Shop my Whistles spring/summer edit:
I'll accentuate the retro tones in this jumpsuit with big sunnies and a neckerchief.
You can still wear your knit dresses in spring—just add sliders and a basked bag.
Dress this down with chunky Birkenstocks and dress it up with strappy sandals.
I'll throw this over a T-shirt and jeans for cooler evenings socialising outside.
Bring a bit of summer holiday beach vibes to your city capsule.
