Prediction: Everyone Will Wear These Trends With Skinny Jeans

As you know, skinny jeans are a classic denim style that, at this point, we've all had in our closets for years. But when paired with fresh trends, they become decidedly of-the-moment. Given how flattering and versatile they can be, skinny jeans are actually quite easy to wear with cool new trends. In general, we try to avoid wearing them with things that are very tight or with shoes that will make them bunch up, but otherwise, almost anything is fair game.

Since it's that time of year when we all practically live in denim (see you in six months, summer dresses), it's easy to get bored with the same old combination of skinny jeans, a sweater, and sneakers, so we're opening your mind to six new trends that we predict everyone will soon wear with skinny jeans, if they aren't already.

Forget the preppy polo shirts of decades past. The latest iterations of the old-school shirt style are considerably more interesting. Thanks to trending details like puffed sleeves, rugby stripes, ruffles, and contrasting trims, polos 2.0 are anything but boring, and they're the perfect top style to wear with skinnies.

STILETTO PUMPS

The S/S 18 runways of Off-White, Tom Ford, Valentino, and Balenciaga proved that classic pointed-toe pumps are about to return in a big way. There's no easier way to dress up skinny jeans for a night out or even the office.

CHECKED COATS

This fall, checks were practically the only pattern that mattered, and now that we're moving into winter, we fully expect that checked outerwear will be everywhere. Needless to say, you can't go wrong with the combination of a checked coat and skinny jeans.

PURPLE

Not only was Ultra Violet just named Pantone's 2018 color of the year, but shades of lavender were all over the spring runways as well. Consider this the prettiest new trend to wear with skinnies in 2018.

SHERPA JACKETS

In our opinion, the best Canadian tuxedos involve a sherpa jacket. And if you want to take the cozy look a step further, choose a jacket with the sherpa on the outside. Since sherpa jackets usually have some bulk to them, they're a great counterpoint to slim skinny jeans.

STATEMENT SOCKS

We find that the most flattering skinny jeans have a bit of a cropped inseam, which means exposed ankles. Since that's not the best idea in the winter, our solution is to invest in a few pairs of statement socks. A fun, on-trend accessory and warm ankles and feet? Win-win.
