What to Wear to Go Wine Tasting: 3 Who What Wear–Approved Outfits
With the weather finally getting warmer, you’re more likely to venture into less-traveled territory, and we highly recommend adding a winery visit to your list of plans. Whether you’re looking for a fresh date-night activity or want to kick back with your closest friends, wine tastings offer something for every party. And, hey, if it’s good enough for Beyoncé, it’s definitely good enough for us.
Though these events may seem intimidating at first, I can tell you from experience that you don’t need to be a grape expert—the whole point is to learn more in the most relaxed way possible. The real conundrum here is what to wear to a wine tasting, as tastings are so infrequent and tend to tread the thinnest line between casual and dressy.
Well, the most important aspect of your look is comfort: You may be standing or sitting for a long period of time, so anything uncomfortably tight is a no-no. Not to mention the copious liquid (both water and wine) and snacks that are usually on offer. This is no time to restrict yourself! Next, you want to make sure that you aren’t too casual—skip the flip-flops and ripped jeans—but not overdone either. And definitely opt for flat shoes instead of heels, as you will likely be standing on grass at some point, if not the whole time. Our top picks? Easy maxi dresses, jumpsuits, or cropped jeans. And to make your final decision that much easier, we’ve compiled three total looks centered around each piece below.
