I've Perfected the Art of Carry-On Bag Packing—25 Things I'm Never Without
One thing about me is that I despise packing. Admittedly, it almost even makes me dread trips. So over the years, something I've learned is that having the right tools to make packing easier makes me dread the task far less. In my opinion, one of the most important elements of packing is getting the contents of the carry-on bag right. In fact, I even usually start with it so that I know I won't be rushed (as I usually am when I leave something to the last minute).
The items in your carry-on bag are the ones that should be most readily accessible to you both during your journey and when you get to your destination. Your carry-on bag should also contain those important items that you don't want to leave your side (jewelry, passport, and medication, etc.).
I'm someone who can't take a trip without making a packing list, so I referred back to a few of mine and saw that I pretty much pack the same things in my carry-on every single time I go somewhere, whether via car or plane. Scroll for my list in case you need a little carry-on assistance too.
This has been my carry-on bag of choice for years. It's incredibly sturdy.
I would never put my jewelry in my checked bag. Instead, I use this. I love that it's nice and thin.
These customizable capsules are perfect for everything from vitamins and medication to face creams to jewelry.
When I pack my makeup in my carry-on bag, this is the pouch I bring. It fits a ton of products and doesn't take up a ton of space.
This is something I don't mind splurging on a bit, as I'll have it forever.
Pretty KN95 masks make wearing them for hours on a flight far more enjoyable.
This little hand sanitizer smells incredible. (Fun fact: It's on all of the tables at Dante, one of New York's chicest cocktail bars.)
This TSA-approved pouch for liquids is a big upgrade from disposable plastic bags.
There's no need to panic next time you barely have enough charge to order an Uber when you get off a plane.
When I don't want to carry my carry-on bag and my handbag, I pack a small, lightweight nylon one that I can slip into my carry-on.
If you're someone who likes to pack an extra change of clothes just in case, these are a game-changer.
I don't know about you, but I'm one of those people who wipes down their entire seat area as soon as they step on a plane.
You can turn on your overhead light if you want, but your seatmates will love it if you don't.
I've tried tons of hand creams, but this one is the best. It sinks right in and smells heavenly.
If you plan on sleeping or working on flights, you might want to invest in these noise-canceling headphones.
A reminder that they don't pass out pens when they pass out the customs forms to fill out...
If it's going to be raining when I land, I pack the tiniest of umbrellas.
When it comes to carry-on lip balm, I suggest one you don't have to stick your finger in. This one is my go-to for many reasons.
I can't tell you how many times I've wanted to freshen up my makeup at the end of a flight but found myself without a mirror to do so.
I love that you can use these hydrating eye drops with or without contact lenses.
