Fashion People Have Proven That These Are the 7 Best Shoes to Wear With Tights
If there's one thing you should know about me, it's that I'm going to wear a skirt or dress no matter how cold it is. I grew up in a school uniform, meaning that even in the depths of winter, every day required a miniskirt and a smile. That mentality fully stuck with me, and to this day, I don't really feel dressed when I'm in pants.
Having a shoe collection that aligns with my love for tights is so important, and I like to think I've mastered it. I've rounded up seven shoes-and-tights pairings I swear by. Below, find the best shoes and tights combos. You'll want to shop this one.
1. Ballet Flats
This is the shoe trend that isn't going anywhere. Delicate and dainty, these flats fully embrace the balletcore rhetoric. While most people think of them as a fall or spring shoe style, they look damn good with tights.

2. Loafers
My inner bookworm has a thing for loafers. They're one of the most elevated footwear options you can choose besides a pair of heels. When I'm getting dressed in the winter, I almost always go for a pair of boots, but styling loafers with tights is such a no-brainer.
Shop:
3. Platforms
I'm going to go ahead and name the rise of platform pumps one of the biggest fashion moments I've ever witnessed. One of the greatest joys that go along with being a fashion editor is watching trends start on the runway and end up on the feet of everyone you know and their mothers. Since this shoe trend is so big, I highly suggest you wear it into winter with tights.
Shop:
4. Snow Boots
When the snow begins to fall, a lot of people begin to strictly wear pants. You can blame the school uniform I wore growing up, but I'm never afraid to wear a daring miniskirt despite the weather, snow boots et all.
Shop:
5. Pointed-Toe Pumps
If you don't have a pair of pointy-toe pumps in your closet by now, I guarantee you won't regret testing out the trend in 2023. Whether it's a romantic dinner or a night on the town, you'll be glad you chose to wear these.
Shop:
6. Chelsea Boots
Chelsea boots are the style that you'll never hear me call outdated. I think they are a forever buy and such a worthy investment. They might be the easiest pair of shoes to wear with tights if you're trying to be comfortable and chic.
Shop:
7. Lug-Sole Boots
These are the kind of stompers that most people might not think to wear with tights. Surprise them all by pairing a grungier pair of boots with a good pair of tights.

Sierra Mayhew was always destined to work in fashion, but she didn't know it at first. Growing up with no choice but to wear a rotation of school uniforms and activewear, her love for fashion really blossomed when she moved away for college and was able to finally define her very own personal style. Shortly thereafter, she interned at Elle magazine and instantly knew that editorial was for her. After graduating from the University of Notre Dame, she worked for ShopBazaar, contributing regularly to Bazaar.com, and finally made her way to Who What Wear, where she is an associate editor. When she’s not working, you can catch her always trying to catch a flight, trying the latest fitness craze in New York City, or exploring luxury vintage boutiques.
