Say what? Victoria Beckham is wearing a pair of flats and they're not Stan Smith trainers? Yes, we know it's hard to believe but the fashion designer and former popstar stepped out wearing a pair of black flat sandals by Celine while in New York yesterday. The shoes themselves were a very simple, chic look, in keeping with VB's pared-back aesthetic, and she wore them with a classic white shirt and wide-leg black trousers.
Beckham has recently spoken about her past fashion mistakes, even liking some of her past looks to a bit like a drag queen, saying "you are going to have so much fun with your clothes – PVC catsuits; chokers that say absurd things; weird spiky blonde hair. It will never occur to you that you appear ridiculous."
However over time she said she's matured and now she's fine with wearing flats. In an interview with this month's Vogue, she said:
"You will learn, as you mature, to swap heels for Stan Smith trainers, minidresses for crisp white shirts. And you will never be one of those people who just roll out of bed."
And that is exactly what we got yesterday. Minus the sneakers, of course. The outfit is ideal for running around New York Fashion Week, which we know she'll be preparing for.
