Victoria Beckham Boarded a Train With One of the World's Most Expensive Handbags

In the early 2000s, Victoria Beckham was rarely photographed without a Birkin bag on her arm, as she is estimated to have a collection of over 100 that is reported to be worth over £1.5 million. They were a key part of the brand Beckham image in 2008, along with Cavalli gowns, platform Christian Louboutin stilettos and hair extensions. Over the past few years, we've rarely seen Victoria wearing anything that isn't from her own label, however, this week VB wore one of her Birkin bags for a trip to Paris. She boarded a Eurostar in London with her purple Ostrich skin Birkin and paired it with matching violet suede heels—it was a VB styling trick in the noughties to match her Birkin to her stilettos.

The Hermès Birkin is still one of the most difficult bags to get your hands on because of overwhelming demand, and luxury resale companies like Vestiare Collective and Xupes assert that the Hermès Birkin bag typically retains around 130% of its retail value at resale. As Vestiare co-founder Fanny Moizant explained, "Anything that is hard to get is highly coveted, and there's a mystery around the bags, which makes them even more sought-after." A similar purple Birkin to Victoria's was recently sold in a Christie's auction for £10,600.
