Victoria Beckham Is Bringing Back This Classic '90s Trend
Remember how bandeau tops were your favourite thing to wear in the '90s? Especially that sparkly denim one you bought from Tammy Girl? (No? Just us?) Well, this piece is making a comeback—and who better to bring the trend to our attention other than '90s icon extraordinaire, Victoria Beckham?
During a fleeting 24-hour visit to the Cannes Film Festival, the designer wore a chic monochrome bustier, straight from her A/W 16 collection. In February this year at New York Fashion Week, Beckham showcased her latest designs, including a smattering of these new strapless tops.
But it's not just VB who is contributing to the burgeoning popularity of this sartorial cross-breed: Look to the other runways of next season, and you'll find corsets at Alexander McQueen, Loewe, Prada and Balmain, to name but a few. Bloggers have adopted the look early, layering a simple white T-shirt or blouse underneath corsetry—perfect if you want to nod to the trend without exposing a lot of skin.
For maximum elegance in 2016, put down the glitzy finishes of the '90s versions, opt for a new bandeau in a simple block colour rendered in a gorgeous fabric, and wear with a classic pair of black trousers or an elegant midi skirt.
