If You Buy One Summer Accessory, It Should Be This

If you're assuming that my social media algorithm provides me with never-ending fashion inspiration, well, your assumption is spot on. (Okay, I get fashion-related content and cute dog videos, but that's beside the point.) It seems like I find more and more cool people to follow every time I open my apps, and recently, I stumbled upon Maria Beltre's feed and became instantly hooked on her effortlessly cool vibe and epic street style looks. The New Yorker always seems to be frequenting the coolest spots around town, so I decided to hit her up to see what she had planned for the summer (and, obviously, to see the outfits she's wearing for all her endeavors).
Unlike a lot of people who appear to be jetting off to new places every weekend, Beltre is taking advantage of NYC this summer. "Even though I love to travel during the season, there's nothing like a New York summer," she told me. I was lucky enough to get a rundown of a typical day in her life in the city and the 'fits she's wearing for all of her activities. What's one accessory she can't live without while out and about? Sunglasses. This year, she's been wearing pairs from Versace's incredibly cool collection of eyewear (available at Sunglass Hut) on repeat. Keep scrolling to spend a day with Beltre and shop her must-have accessory.
Beltre usually starts her day running errands and shopping around the city. I'm obsessed with the laid-back 'fit she threw on here. "Long-sleeved tight tops and baggy jeans are my fave go-tos at the moment, and colors are so fun to play around with in the summer," she said. Since it was more of a chill morning for her, Beltre kept her sunglasses simple with Versace's pilot frames. "I went for this pair because they're a bit more relaxed, so they were super easy to add to a more casual look." I love that the glasses, while simple, have that intricate gold detailing that you can instantly recognize as Versace.
The next stop on her agenda was an ice-cream run, which, if you know me and my problematic sweet tooth, you know I was excited to hear about. "I wanted this 'fit to feel like I was on vacation, so I paired this button-down and these flowy pants together," said Beltre. "Button-downs are essential in my wardrobe—they're so easy to wear and feel super light on days when it's really hot." What's the cherry on top, in my opinion? (I'm sorry, I had to.) The oversize Versace shades. "I feel like square glasses just give off major vacation vibes," Betre explained. "I love the shape of this specific pair. It's not your average structured shape—it's a little funkier but still practical."
As the day came to an end, Beltre was off to hang out with friends in the city. And she made sure whatever look she threw on would carry her from day to night seamlessly. "It gets chilly in the evening when the sun goes down! So I'm always prepared with an easy cardigan just in case I'm spending time outside," she explained. "While I love my preppy sweater and trousers, I was most excited about the Versace glasses in this look. The cool shape and bold color feel like such a statement, so I opted for an all-black look to keep it sleeker."
