Reese Witherspoon's Daughter Made a Chic Front-Row Appearance in Paris
Welcome to Runway Matters, where we're delivering notes straight from the runway so you can quickly digest the most important trends and noteworthy moments from the shows.
Get used to seeing a lot more of Ava Phillippe. You may remember that Reese Witherspoon's 18-year-old daughter participated in a debutante ball in Paris last year, and now she's back in the City of Light for fashion week. Of course, she's not attending just any old show—she's sitting front row at Valentino, one of the most prestigious brands of Paris Fashion Week. Phillippe joined Dakota Fanning and model Liya Kebede at the show, creating a trio of front-row outfits to copy ASAP. Read on to see what they wore, learn about the breakout model of the show, and see our favorite trend from the collection.

The Model to Watch
Sudanese-Australian model Adut Akech, who opened the Valentino show, is an up-and-coming model you should have on your radar ASAP. In addition to landing the covetable spot at Valentino, she walked in essentially every important show this season, including Burberry and Tom Ford.
Little Red Riding Hood
As for noteworthy trends from Valentino's F/W 18 collection, it was hard to ignore the different versions of voluminous hooded coats. Rendered on the runway in bright green, black, pink, and every other color under the sun, the hooded looks will definitely spark a trend come fall.
From the well-dressed front row to the beautiful collection that had everyone buzzing, Valentino's F/W 18 show certainly did not disappoint.
Erin got her start as a Who What Wear intern over 13 years ago—back when the site only published a single story per day. (Who What Wear has since increased that number twentyfold.) She graduated magna cum laude from USC, which is how she ended up moving to Los Angeles from her hometown of San Diego. In college, she also interned at Refinery29, where she was promoted to editorial assistant and then assistant editor. After nearly three years at R29, she came back to WWW in 2016, where she currently holds the title of Associate Director of Fashion News (as well as the unofficial title of resident royal expert—in case you haven't noticed her numerous Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton stories). She spends her days trying to incorporate her idols, Anna Wintour and Roger Federer, into as many stories as possible. Outside of work, she loves tennis, classic rock, traveling, and smothering her dog with affection.
