I'm Anti-Trend, But These New-Season Items Work With My Autumn Capsule Wardrobe
September always inspires a new-year feeling that I owe to the school term—when the fantasy of summer starts to dwindle and a new phase commences. But if we’re really lucky, we’re dealt a few balmy days before landing feet first on crisp leaves, Halloween paraphernalia and pumpkin-spiced lattes. Given the weather this summer, we’re already in autumn mode, so there’s been an early shift in fashion offerings of late, and things are noticeably more autumn-forward than usual at this time of year. I’m a summer girl, so I'm still embracing being on the periphery of no-tights weather, even if I have to don my trench coat earlier than usual.
Having said that, I am looking forward to leaning into my autumnal colour palette of ochre, olive green and brown tones, all of which are making their way onto shop floors prematurely. Between greens, brown tones and scarf details in excess, autumn offerings are showcasing the timeless trends of last season, albeit with a little flare. These are the pieces that have caught my attention lately.
Shop My September Wish List:
Shop Tops:
With Nothing Underneath is no stranger to premium shirting and the latest on its roster is the Chessie shirt. It's available in three styles, spanning plain white to striped.
The bandeau detail is an example of a trend with longevity.
Shop Dresses:
Like a magpie is to light, I'm drawn to bandeau and scarf detail pairings.
Make like a ballerina in this flouncy, full frock, courtesy of whimsical frock specialists, Sister Jane.
Cling to the last of the summer sun with a detailed cotton frock.
Shop Bottoms:
Dare I say it but I'm becoming one with trousers and I'm looking to add fresh tailoring to my wardrobe. This warm tone will match many pieces in my existing wardrobe.
Here, Danielle showcases this sheer beauty of this skirt.
Continue wearing linen throughout the transitional months, especially in rich chocolate hues.
Flirty, frilly and decidedly noughties, this is a major fashion throwback!
Shop Outerwear:
I've hopped on the suede train for the foreseeable. I've seen many designer iterations of cropped suede & Other Stories' take is my favourite by far. Fret not if it's OOO when this is published because we're awaiting a re-stock.
While I'm not suggesting it's time for leather outwear (quite yet), Whistles' leather goods are some of the best you can find and therefore highly sought after.
I'll let you in on a little secret. I much prefer this scarf jacket to the cult designer piece.
Shop Accessories:
Admittedly this whimsical beauty is even more appealing with the considerably slashed price point but as someone who buys with forever in mind, it will become my event bag for the foreseeable.
Shop Shoes:
Maison Margiela's Tabi flats have earned hero status and this burgundy hue is certainly tempting.
Reknown for its espadrilles but maker of much more fashion-forward styles of late. You''ll be remiss to miss TOMS' myriad offerings.
Without doubt the freshest, and most considered sneakers on the market. I can also attest to the comfort of JAK's shoes from the very first wear.
It's wonderful witnessing this level of quality the high street.
