It's Official—These Spring Outfits Are the Only Ones Worth Copying
I’ve lost count of the number of times people have told me they have no idea what to wear recently. And it was only yesterday this conversation led to a friend and me admitting we have no idea how we used to wear a different outfit for work every day. If you're rotating the same four/five outfits on repeat at the moment, you’re not alone. With it still being super chilly and spring clothes appearing in the shops, it's bound to make anyone feel, well, confused.
I'm in the position right now where I'm ready to try out new spring/summer trends but also happy to stick to capsule wardrobe classics. So with this in mind, I headed to some of my favourite Instagram accounts I always go to when I need to feel excited about getting dressed again. And, of course, I instantly felt inspired to give my trousers, jumper and ankle boots a day off in favour of fresh spring outfit combinations. Here are nine simple (read: minimal-effort-needed) outfits that are bound to mix up your daily uniform.
1. Floral Shirt + Jacket + Jeans
Style Notes: You can go for any shirt and jacket/blazer, but Linne's styling tip of going for matching clashing prints totally works. Try it out with stripes, spots or checkerboard.
SHOP THE LOOK:
Our editors all agree, M&S jeans are a high street hero.
2. Knit + Miniskirt + Knee-High Boots
Style Notes: Don't pack your knits away as warmer weather approaches. Instead, wear them with a miniskirt and bare legs as soon as spring is in the air.
SHOP THE LOOK:
Abstract knit? No problem, Topshop has got you covered.
The mini skirt trend doesn't show any signs of slowing down quite yet.
3. Camel Suit + Bold Accessories
Style Notes: Brights are always perfect for spring—add accents of colour to your classic neutrals for a whole new spin on casual suiting.
SHOP THE LOOK:
Wear as a full suit, or pair the blazer with blue denim.
Wide leg trousers should be considered a wardrobe staple–they make everything they're worn with look instantly better.
4. Knitted Midi Dress + Blazer
Style Notes: The knit dress should be part of any capsule wardrobe, no matter the season. Abisola styles a pastel iteration with an oversized boxy blazer, and I can't get enough of this simple but effective look.
SHOP THE LOOK:
There's a reason our editors all agree that this is the best blazer on the high street.
5. Jacket + Wide-Leg Trousers + Chunky Sandals
Style Notes: Spring means we can ditch some layers, so why not wear a jacket as a top? Keep it minimal like Nisi did with wide-leg trousers, and dig those platform sandals back out.
SHOP THE LOOK:
A camel jacket is one of the best investments you could make for spring.
The ultimate leg-lengthening, streamlining wide leg trouser.
The sandal that's been dominating your feed for the last 3 summers in a row.
6. Minidress + Mary Janes
Style Notes: Mary Janes are back with a bang this season, so we're coping Zeena and styling them with a puff-sleeve minidress. So dreamy.
SHOP THE LOOK:
Gather round dress fans–this romantic babydoll is for you.
This one of this season's biggest shoe trends, the Mary Jane, and for under £60.
7. Co-Ord + Coat
Style Notes: The weather is unpredictable, so a coat is never a bad idea. Emmanuelle layers a sharp tailored style over a cool co-ord, and no doubt this will be your outfit equation for every upcoming event.
SHOP THE LOOK:
8. Jumper + Maxi Skirt + Converse
Style Notes: The knit of the season. Let your half-zip jumper get more air time this year by pairing it with a maxi skirt. Because, yes, they're also making a comeback.
SHOP THE LOOK:
9. Midi Dress + High-Neck Top
Style Notes: Wear your favourite summer dresses already by layering a second-skin high neck top underneath. It's all about clever, fuss-free layers for spring.
SHOP THE LOOK:
The runways have spoken and orange is about to be big this spring and summer.
