I Spent Weeks Testing TikTok-Viral Beauty Products—11 That Are Genuinely Worth the Hype

When it comes to viral beauty products, there really is only one place to go, and that's TikTok. This app has been responsible for some of the most popular products out there, from the Drunk Elephant bronzing drops to Maybelline's affordable mascara. In fact, as a beauty editor, it's often the first place I go when I want to know what brands are trending right now.

However, one thing I always find myself asking is: "are these products actually worth the hype?" Sometimes I wonder if we are all just getting swept up in the excitement and investing our money in products that might not actually be that effective. So, like any good journalist, I thought it was time to put some of the most viral TikTok products to the test in order to see what all the fuss is about. I tried to forget all about how many views and likes each of these products has had, and instead I've given my honest rundown on what products are worth your cash.

So, in no particular order, keep scrolling for my honest review of some of the most popular viral products on TikTok...

1. Milk Makeup Cooling Water Jelly Tint

First up is the Milk Makeup Cooling Water Jelly Tint. These blushers went viral partly due to the jelly-like texture, and partly due to the impressive colour payoff. I was desperate to give them a go and managed to get my hands on all of the shades. They can be used on both your cheeks and lips and act as more of a sheer stain that you can build upon depending on your desired finish. They have a super refreshing effect thanks to the aloe and seawater-infused formula, and although they took me a while to get used to. they really do add the most beautiful pop of colour. A little goes a long way, so I recommend taking it easy when applying these, but if you want a blusher that will last the entire day, I suggest giving these a go.

2. Gisou Honey Infused Hair Oil

Next up is the Gisou Honey Infused Hair Oil. My TikTok feed is full of Gisou products at the moment, but it's the hair oil that seems to be the most popular. I'm a big fan of hair oils and have tried my fair share over the years, so I was intrigued to see how I would get on with this. After trying it for a few weeks, I can confirm that it is totally worth the hype. It smells amazing, it feels amazing, and just a couple of drops leaves my hair with the most beautiful shine. The formula is so lightweight so it won't weigh down your hair, but it will leave your ends feeling silky soft. Fair play TikTok, fair play.

3. Drunk Elephant B-Goldi Bright Drops

The Drunk Elephant bronzing drops are so popular on TikTok that it can be hard to find them in stock, so when the brand released a new version I got my hands on the product straight away. These drops offer a more subtle approach, delivering instant radiance without the bronzing effect. You can mix them in with your moisturiser or your foundation, and the skin-loving formula will add a natural luminosity to your complexion. I really loved the finished result when using these, and would recommend them to anyone who wants to add a little oomph to their makeup.

4. Color Wow Dream Coat Supernatural Spray

Another product that I was hesitant to try was the Color Wow Dream Coat Supernatural Spray. My hair is very thick, curly and is so sensitive to the weather and this product claims to act as a humidifying shield. I kept convincing myself that I didn't need it as it probably wouldn't work, but after watching TikTok video after TikTok video, I couldn't resist adding it to my basket. As it turns out, it really does work (I did use the extra strength formula which is recommended for curly hair types, so one to bear in mind when buying). I have worn this on some of the most humid days of the year and my hair remains just as smooth and glossy as it is when I leave the house in the morning. It's not a product that you need in your routine, but if your hair is also effected by humidity, I recommended giving it a go to see if it can help.

5. Parfums de Marly Delina

If you're on the perfume side of TikTok (also known as PerfumeTok) then you'll have heard of Delina by Parfums de Marly. People rave about this fragrance, and as a perfume-lover myself I couldn't wait to give it a go. However, I have mixed feelings about this product. I love the packaging and the scent itself is absolutely beautiful (think sweet rose and peony), but it is very expensive and doesn't last super long on my skin (although other people I know have had the opposite experience). I have received so many compliments on it over the last few weeks, but have found myself having to top it up a lot throughout the day. If you like sweet, floral scents then I recommend trying it, but you may get through a bottle a little quicker than planned.

6. Shark Flexstyle 5-In-1 Air Styler & Hair Dryer

Remember when people on TikTok couldn't get enough of the Dyson Airwrap? Well, it seems that the Shark Flexstyle is just as popular. I'm a big Dyson Airwrap fan so I was very intrigued to see how I would get on with this. It is still a big investment, setting you back almost £300, but I have to say that it really is worth it if you want a hair tool that does a little bit of everything. It comes with five different attachments, including a curl-defining diffuser and a styling concentrator. However, the attachments I loved the most were the paddle brush and the auto-wrap curler, as they helped achieve that bouncy blow dry look at home.

7. Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Setting Spray

I'm not a big lover of setting sprays. As someone with oily skin, my makeup moves around no matter what, so I tend to skip this part of my makeup routine. But, once again, TikTok convinced me to give the Charlotte Tilbury one a go. If you're yet to watch any of the reviews, prepare to be very, very impressed. Some people show their makeup with and without the spray, and once the spray is applied it does not budge. After trying it myself, I have been pretty impressed. My makeup has been lasting longer and I have also found that it gives me a slightly dewy finish which I love, however I still find that after a full day at work my makeup moves around a little bit. If you're in the market for a new setting spray then it's a great option, but if you already have one that works for you then you don't need to get this as well.

8. Maybelline Lash Sensational Sky High Mascara

As someone who has tried some of the most expensive mascaras on the market, I truly believe that the affordable formulas work just as well. So, I was excited to try Maybelline's viral Lash Sensational Sky High Mascara. I loved how this formula lengthened and defined my lashes while also adding noticeable volume, however I did find that it smudged under my eyes a little bit throughout the day. Then again, I do find this happens with pretty much every mascara I try, so I wouldn't let this deter you from trying this out for yourself.

9. Saie Glowy Super Gel

This product has been viral for what feels like forever, and for good reason. The glowy gel can be used alone, under makeup or over makeup to add a naturally radiant finish to the skin. Although I like to look luminous, I don't like anything too shiny, so I was a little bit hesitant to give it a go. However, as you can see from above, it really does give a lit-from-within effect without feeling greasy on the skin, so I understand the hype with this. That being said, it is so natural that I'm not sure it's a product that I would buy again and again, but it's great for those days when you need a little boost.

10. Clinique Black Honey Lipstick

If you didn't know, Clinique's Black Honey lipstick went viral thanks to the fact that it's universally flattering. It might look quite scary in the tube, but it's actually pretty natural, adding a sheer pop of colour that can be worn everyday. I love the creamy formula and it definitely does look nice on the lips, however I found that this clung to dry skin a little bit, and there are definitely other lip products on the market that give a similar finish. Yes, it's nice, but you don't need it in your makeup routine.

11. La Roche-Posay Cicaplast Balm

I'm always skeptical when skincare goes viral, as we all have our own skin concerns, and what works for one person won't necessarily work for you. Not only that, but I like to keep my routine pretty simple, and try to avoid all of the skincare videos out there that tell us we need hundreds of products in order to see results (spoiler alert: you don't). However, one skincare product that did interest me was the La Roche-Posay Cicaplast Balm. Designed to nourish super dry skin, this balm contains hydrating glycerin and replenishing cicaplast. I expected it to have a thick, greasy texture, but it was surprisingly lightweight. After experiencing some dry skin after using a bit too much retinol, I decided to give it a go and was pleasantly surprised by the results. It's not a product I would reach for all the time, but for those moments when your skin needs a little TLC, this should do the trick.
