Rosie HW's Fave Knit Is Back for Autumn, and H&M Stocks the Perfect One
At Who What Wear, we're experts when it comes to spotting microtrends. But what is a microtrend, you say? Well, it's the kind of detail that's distinguished by something as small as the texture of a fabric or the placement of a button.
For example, more recently we've given you the heads up on microtrends ranging from bouclé jackets to sailor collars, but there's another one we need to draw your attention to that's big this season: the sweetheart neckline. For the more eagle-eyed reader, you'll recognise that this microtrend appeared last winter too however, it continues to remain a favourite among the fashion crowd.
From designer to high street, sweetheart neckline knitted pieces continue to have a very fashionable fanbase right now with influencers across the globe embracing the flattering silhouette.
Rosie Huntington-Whiteley wearing the Khaite top.
Of course, as with most trends, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley wore it first. The model was seen in this chic silhouette late last year, wearing a top by buzzy It label Khaite. The New York–based brand can be credited for reigniting the popularity of this cut, as Khaite debuted a series of looks featuring this very specific silhouette on its Spring 2020 runway and it has rereleased the same top in more autumnal colours for this season.
Since then, labels including Zara and ASOS have all championed the look, making it a key staple in the wardrobes of chic women this winter. Keep scrolling to see how influencers are wearing the trend and shop sweetheart neckline knits below.
How to Style the Trend
Style Notes: I've styled the green Khaite top with a red Bottega Veneta bag and a pair of jeans.
Style Notes: Chloe Pierre has styled her look with a silver chain necklace and high-ponytail hairstyle in order to truly highlight her top's unique neckline.
Style Notes: Here Jessica Skye wears & Other Stories' sweetheart knit. This particular style is already sold out, sadly.
Style Notes: Tandya pairs her knit with a set of leather trousers and gold jewellery.
Style Notes: Simple, dainty jewellery seems to be the perfect accompaniment to this look, as evidenced here by Sasha Mei.
Style Notes: Gosia keep is tonal, pairing her know with white jeans and a beige trench.
SHOP THE TREND
The silhouette speaks for itself. Style with jeans, tailored trousers or a printed skirt.
The short sleeve version can be worn all year round.
