Socks and Heels: A Beginner's Guide
As someone whose first foray into the socks-and-heels world was only a few months ago, I’m here to tell you that we’ve been missing out. Putting aside the fact that the look is undeniably forward and eye-catching, the comfort factor alone would have been reason enough to convert me long ago—had I known. Not only that, but in the colder months (like now), when you’re sick of wearing the same weather-appropriate boots for every night out, the addition of a sparkly sock makes even the most summery sandals winter- (and party-) ready. Still not sold? Or maybe you’re just a bit intimidated? Either way, you’re about to be convinced otherwise because we’ve put together eight game-changing sock-and-heel combos that will have you onboard in no time.
Keep scrolling through to see and shop the pairings.
Topshop Fishnet Ankle Sock (£4).
+ Gianvito Rossi Suede Sandals in Black (£550)
Style Notes: Ideal for a night out, but be prepared for slightly colder feet.

Style Notes: What’s better than glitter on glitter?
Topshop Cropped Rib Ankle Sock (£4)

Falke Soft Wool and Cotton-Blend Socks (£13)
+ Saint Laurent Amber Patent-Leather Sandals (£425)
Style Notes: Nude shoes are great, but they look 100% cooler when you add a pair of dark socks.

Opening Image: A Love Is Blind
Since starting as an intern back in 2013, Nicole Akhtarzad Eshaghpour has held several roles here at Who What Wear, and she is currently Editor-at-Large. It was a less expected route, seeing as she was graduating from business school at USC when this all began, but it has turned out to be the best one for her. Fast-forward to 2024, and she's moved to NYC from her hometown of Beverly Hills and spends her workdays a little differently from when she was an intern starting out. Currently, she focuses on a weekly mélange of shopping content. As far as her personal style goes, she's largely drawn to classic pieces and neutral basics but will always make an exception for something colorful, printed, or bejeweled as long as it's deemed worthy enough. After all, the only thing she loves more than a good party is dressing up for one. On weekdays, she can usually be found at home eating something delicious for dinner and trying to force her husband to watch Summer House.
