These Are the Most Popular Sneakers of 2017 So Far
As much as we doff our caps to the sneakerheads (you know, the guys who literally can't wait for the new Yeezys or Nike Air Max), the trainer trends of 2017 we're really interested in are the ones that we've seen the coolest girls wearing this year. Whether that's with a dress, a pair of cropped trousers, or fringed-hem jeans, there are a few standout trainers we've spied on the feet of the chicest street style stars this year. And spoiler alert: Stan Smiths don't feature.
Fear not—the white trainer hasn't disappeared completely. There are plenty of classic sneakers that feature, as well as a few newbies making this year's list. Want to know if you own a pair or just want to nab a new pair of trainers that will work with any outfit? Keep scrolling for the biggest sneaker trends of 2017 so far.
Adidas Gazelles
Chances are you used to own a pair of these classic '90s trainers. Once a favourite of Kate Moss (so you can rest assured they'll always crop up in a "best of" list), these trainers have made a solid comeback this year.
Pink Trainers
According to Pinterest, searches for pink trainers have seen a 55% increase since the beginning of the year. While these haven't proved as ubiquitous as some of the other styles, we can guarantee they'll only grow in popularity.
Converse High-Tops
Converse never leave the fashion set's wardrobes, but the type of Converse chosen does vary. This year, we've noticed high-tops are very much back in. White is the most popular, but there have been a few bright versions dotted around, too.
Vans
We're putting this brand's increase in popularity partly down to the fact that stylist Kate Foley (that's her on the right), wears her Vans so well and so often. Whether low-and-black versions or the high-top brightly coloured styles, you can bank that wearing a pair of those will look cool. But if we're being picky, Foley's penchant for pairing hers with feminine dresses is what we're copying.
Dad Trainers
Chunky, white trainers have become a new trend creeping in this year. Thanks to Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid donning oversize '80s tennis-style trainers, we're now contemplating investing in a pair. And yes, dads are the style inspo we're looking for here.
Gucci
Thanks to the various embellished iterations Gucci has created, it's no wonder we've seen them on plenty of feet this year. Who wouldn't want a pair?
Nike Cortez
Another old-school classic trainer that we've seen around. Miroslava Duma is particularly keen on this look. Earlier this year, she paired hers (pictured right) with a pair of black leggings and a fur coat—a combination we hadn't ever considered before…
Next up! These trainers are set to be more popular than Stan Smiths.
