My Style Is Simple, and These Are My Favourite Winter Outfit Ideas

As I’ve said before, my style is simple, but I like to think that that doesn’t mean it’s boring—and hopefully others agree. Yes, I love the occasional party dress, fun bag or statement shoes, but I’ve always believed that when it comes to day-to-day style, you can achieve an impressive outfit without wearing anything out of the ordinary. That’s why my closet is mostly made of the best versions of basics: Think jeans, ankle boots, simple jackets and a lot of black, with some “cooler” pieces sprinkled in here and there.

So when it comes to dressing for winter in the city, I tend to stick to fuss-free outfits that as a package look polished, put together, and, of course, stylish. With that in mind, I scanned the world of celebrity style, street style and Instagram style to narrow down my favourite looks to copy for the season ahead. What to expect? A lot of black and neutrals, but also classic prints, basics, timeless silhouettes and most importantly, easy-to-copy inspiration. As for the rest? Simply continue on to see (and shop) for yourself.

The combination of a leopard coat and turtleneck pretty much make it such that nothing else even matters, but all-black is always a good way to go.

If, like me, you love wearing all black but want to take it to the next level, go for a mix of (conveniently warm) textures such as a teddy coat and vinyl pants.

This is exactly what I’d like to wear next time I have a night out. I love the combination of the cropped puffer with a bodysuit, a statement belt, perfect-fitting jeans and glossy ankle boots.

Whether it’s with jeans and a hoodie or trousers and a blazer as pictured, I’m obsessed with this idea of styling winter whites with a contrasting faux-fur coat.

You can’t go wrong with leopard layered over denim.

For holiday parties, a blazer dress and embellished ankle boots looks like the way to go.

Another all-black outfit enhancement is to swap your basic boots for an on-trend snake-print pair.

Last, but certainly not least, we have the classic and comfortable combination of the checked overcoat with stylish black sneakers and, of course, your go-to jeans.

Editor-at-Large

Since starting as an intern back in 2013, Nicole Akhtarzad Eshaghpour has held several roles here at Who What Wear, and she is currently Editor-at-Large. It was a less expected route, seeing as she was graduating from business school at USC when this all began, but it has turned out to be the best one for her. Fast-forward to 2024, and she's moved to NYC from her hometown of Beverly Hills and spends her workdays a little differently from when she was an intern starting out. Currently, she focuses on a weekly mélange of shopping content. As far as her personal style goes, she's largely drawn to classic pieces and neutral basics but will always make an exception for something colorful, printed, or bejeweled as long as it's deemed worthy enough. After all, the only thing she loves more than a good party is dressing up for one. On weekdays, she can usually be found at home eating something delicious for dinner and trying to force her husband to watch Summer House.
