When it comes to footwear in 2019, there are two distinct camps. At many spring/summer 2019 shows, we saw bold, maximalist shoes—we're talking feathers, crystals and dramatic silhouettes. Many of these looked more like December party shoes than summer sandals. Then on the other end of the shoe spectrum, brands like Dior and Chanel introduced really simple flats—from ballet pumps to buttery soft Mary Janes.
One of the trends that's set to dominate this year are barely there "floss" sandals. The Row spearheaded this trend with its now iconic slingback sandals, but now you'll find these strappy sandals in almost every new-in section. Other new cult shoes include the Gucci buttery yellow slides, Chanel's white Mary Janes and Amina Muaddi's crystal-embellished party pumps.
In 2019, there is a real desire for items that look and feel expensive, such as tonal outfits and silky finishes that add an air of sophistication to any look. This feeling is extending into footwear too, as beige boots, pointed leather mules and classic pumps are the perfect addition to an elegant outfit.

Strappy Sandals
The trend for barely-there strappy sandals is only going to accelerate, thanks to brands like ATP and The Row. Topshop's red and black offering sold out within days, confirming this is going to be one of the most popular shoes of the year.

Beige and Tan Boots
