In 50 Years' Time, Everyone Will Still Be Talking About These Rihanna Outfits

There's a reason Rihanna's style is considered a cut above other celebrities. She is always willing to experiment with new looks, she uses multiple stylists (one of whom is our columnist, Avigail Collins) and she wears everything with a confidence we can only dream of. But perhaps the biggest reason Rihanna's sense of style is so incredible is that you can tell she genuinely loves the world of fashion. Whether that's creating sell-out collections for her Fenty x Puma collab, holding awe-inspiring fashion shows (note: see last season's New York Fashion Week stint) or just making everyone else wish they'd spent as much time on their Met Gala dress as she did, it's clear that she has a lot of respect for fashion.

The consequence of this is that she is a true chameleon when it comes to her personal style. Rather than stick to a formula (she would never be so pedestrian), Rihanna goes with what works for the day and the event. She's a real lesson in how to dress according to how you feel. Style Notes: First and foremost, Rihanna started as a pop star, and her wardrobe has always reflected that. Her stylist Mel Ottenberg was behind many of her incredible ensembles during her Anti world tour, but it was this green coat she wore during the iHeartRadio Music Awards in 2015 that we still can't stop thinking about.

Style Notes: Then again, no one does off-duty style quite like Rihanna. Even though she's wearing a hoodie, a grey tee, sweatpants and sneakers, the bomber, sunnies, triple designer handbags and red lipstick make this classic Rihanna.

Style Notes: No one can say RiRi doesn't care about fashion. At this year's Met Gala, the star wore a dress by Commes des Garcons to reflect the year's theme of Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garçons: Art of the In-Between. Everyone who showed up probably just wanted to go home after seeing this.

Style Notes: Want to completely overhaul your style? Do something no one is expecting, aka "doing a Rihanna." This oversized outfit is probably one of her most divisive, but she still looks damn pretty.

Style Notes: At the launch of her Fenty beauty range this year, Rihanna proved that girly dresses, such as this one from Molly Goddard, can totally work for her as well. She often goes to London designer Molly Goddard for these fancy frocks.

Style Notes: While this is yet another Met Gala gown, this one will go down in the history of best-ever dresses. After looking up Chinese couture on the internet (because she's cool enough to do her own research, people), she discovered the designer Guo Pei and commissioned this epic yellow gown. Oh, and it took two years to make. Now that's a real love of fashion.
