Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Just Revealed Their Son's Adorable Name
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have just introduced the world to their baby son, who was born on Monday this week. The couple shared the name of their son on their official Instagram account, announcing they have called him Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor. They revealed the name alongside a picture of the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh meeting Archie, with Meghan's mother Doria Ragland.
The royal couple has been keeping their birth as private as possible and decided to avoid doing a press moment on the steps of the Lindo Wing like the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have with their three children. Rather than introducing the world to their baby in front of crowds of royal fans and the world's media, the Sussexes arranged a quieter introduction and met with members of the press at a photo-call after "celebrating privately as a new family."
The pictures were taken in St. George's Hall at Windsor Castle—a place that has a special meaning for the couple, as this is where they got married this time last year. Meghan said at the photo-call today, "It's magic. It's pretty amazing. I have the two best guys in the world, so I'm really happy. He has the sweetest temperament; he's really calm."
The pair looked smart, but relaxed, for the photo-call, with Harry wearing a grey suit and tie and Meghan a white sleeveless double-breasted trench dress by Grace Wales Bonner, a pair of Manolo Blahnik suede BB heels and a turquoise necklace by jewellery designer Jen Meyer.
Baby Sussex was wrapped up in a white £105 shawl by Nottingham-based brand G.H.Hurt & Son—Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis were all wrapped in one of these blankets for their drive home from the Lindo Wing. According to the website, this delicately stitched merino wool blanket takes eight peopel three days to create in the factory in Nottingham. The blanket is a traditional choice, as the brand was founded in 1912 and has an established history with the royal family.
As for who the baby looks like, Meghan answered, "We're still trying to figure that out." Harry added, "Everyone says that babies change so much over two weeks. We're basically monitoring how the changing process happens over this next month really. But his looks are changing every single day, so who knows."
"It has been the most amazing experience I could ever have possibly imagined," Prince Harry also said on Monday. "How any woman does what they do is beyond comprehension, but we are both absolutely thrilled and so grateful to all the love and support of everybody out there. As every parent and father will say, your baby is absolutely amazing, but this little thing is absolutely to die for, so I'm over the moon."
