London Fashion Week has drawn to a close, and it was plain to see that the fashion crowds have turned their attention fully to autumnal clothes and trends, despite the unseasonably warm weather. For this jumper-loving, boots-wearing, scarf-collecting clothing hoarder, it is also my favourite time of the year to stock up on key new pieces, and many of us in the Who What Wear office share the same go-to when it comes to firing up our shopping lists at the beginning of the season…

Although we spend ample time perusing the virtual rails on their e-commerce site, the illustrious retailer recently added to its collection of boutiques in London this past month with an impressive and immersive five-story experience. 5 Carlos Place in Mayfair is now the standout flagship store, and offers a huge excuse to go shopping IRL, and/or to book a train ticket to the capital if you live elsewhere in the UK.
The MATCHESFASHION.COM team was inspired by the history and the architecture of the townhouse and wanted to make the store seem like they were inviting customers into their own home—so as well as being a rather chic boutique for all of the pieces you will want to purchase (and you can do so in the tap of an iPad), there's also lovely personal shopping areas, an inclusive space with an incredible line-up of both drop-in and bookable events (that you can also live stream if you can't attend), as well as a restaurant, a podcast and much, much more. We've already seen a Prada installation, gone to a Mario Sorrenti book signing and partied alongside the hippest French crowd with up-and-coming designer Marine Serre. This is truly taking the physical experience of shopping to an entirely new, future-facing direction.
