Brace Yourselves: Low-Slung Jeans Really Are Back

When I showed my editor the pictures of Bella Hadid wearing a backless white shirt with slouchy Off-White boyfriend jeans in New York yesterday, she replied, "Oh no, low-rise jeans really are coming back aren't they?" The answer is yes. Low-slung jeans were the noughties uniform and were worn by the likes of Christina Aguilera and Britney Spears with extreme crop tops.

Bella's slouchy boyfriend jeans sit low on her hips, and just like the '00s pop crowd, she emphasised the cut by pairing them with a crop top ending inches above her belly button. She's just the latest celebrity to sport these low-slung styles: The list includes Gigi Hadid, Emily Ratajkowski, Lily Aldridge, Rihanna and more. With Balenciaga (the starting point for almost all of 2017's biggest trends) creating low-rise jeans, we're certain this isn't the last we'll see of them—even if it's a trend that remains in A-list circles.
