Short Celebrities and the Clever Tricks They Use to Look Taller
Hands up if you're constantly referred to as petite, little, or even vertically challenged. I have, over the years, been called all three. I know I'm a little shorter at 5'3", but I'm totally okay with it. However, there are scenarios when it pays to know how to look a little taller. I can't change my actual height, but there are dressing tricks that help to make me feel taller, even when surrounded by people who are 6'. Below, I've uncovered seven wardrobe tips that celebrities always use to help them appear taller. From Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen to Kim Kardashian West, here's proof that the A-list are the true pros when it comes to dressing when you're short. Keep scrolling for everything you need to know.
#1: Never let your clothes swamp you
Style Notes: While Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen are into the oversized look, when they do opt for pieces that fit their figures, it makes them look much taller than their 5'1" heights. Even when they wear voluminous clothes, they will often show ankles or a create a defined waist to balance things out.

#2: Tailored pieces are your friend
Style Notes: Zoë Kravitz's 5'1" frame is complemented by tailored pieces often worn with high heels to give the illusion of being much taller.

#3: When it comes to jeans, make sure they're the right length
Style Notes: Rachel Bilson has always been one of our favourite petite A-listers. Not only does she have great taste, but she knows that for jeans to look good, you need to make sure they fit you just right. Either get them taken up or shop the petite section.

If you haven't already, make sure you take a look at Topshop's petite range.
#4: You can get away with super-short skirts
Style Notes: The beauty of being a little shorter than others is that you can wear much shorter hemlines and get away with it. Case in point: Kim Kardashian West. Just pair with barely there heels to ensure your legs appear as long as possible.

#5: But super-long dresses don't want to drag on the floor
Style Notes: There's nothing worse than wearing a maxi dress that trails on the floor. However, if you go for a dress that's midi length and stops before your ankles, you'll end up appearing taller. What you'll discover as a shorter girl is that buying a supposed "knee-length" style will probably be your best bet at achieving the midi length.

#6: Waist-cinching will always work
Style Notes: Jenna Coleman knows that a cinched waist—whether done with a belt or a tie on a coat—is the easiest and quickest way to give your figure definition, thus making your legs look longer.

Burberry's trench is super popular right now thanks to the checked-coat trend.
#7: If in doubt, stick to one colour
Style Notes: At 5'1" Emilia Clarke knows that wearing one colour all over helps to draw the eye up and down creating the appearance of a longer figure.
