The "Grandma" Trend I'm Recommending to Anyone Who'll Listen
What gives a fashion item—whether it be a pair of sunglasses, a knit or a jacket—that elusive, grandma-inspired vibe? To be honest, even for me, it’s hard to pinpoint the je ne sais quoi. However, I think we can all admit that there’s no denying a "grandma” piece when you see it.
Take handbags, conveniently the topic of today’s post, as an example. The below purses you’re about to see all have that of-another-time, dug-from-the-back-of-your-granny’s-closet vintage feeling, but they’re not all necessarily similar either. Some are baguettes while others have top handles. Some are croc-embossed while others are fabric. But when you look at them all collectively, they represent a timeless appeal that just makes you want to invest in one and never get rid of it. And, luckily, you can. Just keep scrolling to see and shop the (many) trendy grandma bags I'm loving and endorsing for the seasons ahead—at every price point.
This brand is known for its perfectly vintage-inspired pieces.
You can always count on Charles & Keith for an affordable but luxe-looking find.
There are a lot of Staud bags that could have fit into this roundup, but this grosgrain style was really speaking to me.
Of course Victoria Beckham got it right.
Nothing like a little animal print to spice up your wardrobe.
Your grandma was probably wearing embellished bags before you were born and she was definitely onto something.
This would look so good with an all-black look (but also, anything else).
Between the top handle, metal frame and embossing, this is checking all the boxes for me.
I'm not typically drawn to colourful bags, but this one is really speaking to me.
Next up, the 9 new-in pieces you need to see this week.
This piece originally appeared on Who What Wear US.
Since starting as an intern back in 2013, Nicole Akhtarzad Eshaghpour has held several roles here at Who What Wear, and she is currently Editor-at-Large. Upon joining, she was a senior about to graduate from business school at USC. Fast-forward to 2025, and she's moved to NYC from her hometown of Beverly Hills and spends her workdays a little differently from when she was just starting out. Currently, she focuses on a weekly mélange of shopping content and her Trust Me—Buy This newsletter. As far as her personal style goes, she's largely drawn to neutral, classic pieces but will always make an exception for something colorful or bejeweled as long as it's deemed worthy enough. After all, the only thing she loves more than a party is dressing up for one. On her downtime, she can usually be found at home eating something delicious and trying to force her husband to watch Summer House.
