I Always Recommend This Brand to My Friends Who Want More Radiant Skin
In 2019, the quest for glowy skin and makeup is real, and as a beauty editor, it's one of the things I'm asked most often about. My WhatsApp messages are overflowing with friends asking for advice on how to combat dull skin, and I'm always stalking the Instagram pages of A-listers for insights into achieving that coveted celebrity glow.
But it wasn't until a recent trawl through my inbox archive that I noticed there was one brand I recommended above all others for radiant skin: Fenty Beauty. Launched in 2017, this cool-girl beauty brand is the brainchild of everyone's favourite R&B songstress, Rihanna. Instantly making waves in the industry for its inclusive range of foundation shades—50 total—the brand was an instant hit amongst beauty aficionados and, of course, fans of RiRi.
Although, at first, it was Fenty's Beauty Foundation that was the tearaway hit—a long-wear, matte formula. (I know, I know—not exactly what you'd expect from a brand that has me raving about its glow factor.) But after trying pretty much everything from the range, it turns out Fenty Beauty also knows a thing about luminosity. In fact, I'd go as far as to say that Fenty has glowy options for pretty much every occasion and makeup taste.

The Best Makeup Products for Glowy Skin
The newest launch from Fenty Beauty comes in the form of this hydrating foundation. Although the brand's matte foundation has something of cult status, this new launch is catered more towards normal to dry skin types—or anyone seeking a more nourishing finish. Just like the original foundation, it's available in 50 shades and it imparts a healthy glow onto skin.
Fenty Beauty's Match Stix are something of a makeup revelation. They come in matte formulations too for concealing and contouring, but it's the shimmer versions that stole my heart. The creamy formulas can be used as highlighters or blushers. I use Starstruck (this soft, champagne pink) on the tops of cheekbones and on the inner corners of my eyes.
Despite being a powder, this is one of the creamiest bronzers I've ever used. It's completely matte, which, in my opinion, is essential if you want to create a genuinely natural-looking, sunkissed glow. Plus it comes in eight shades, so pale to deep skin tones are covered. If you like a sculpted complexion, Fenty Beauty's Bronzer Brush is great at precise application, but I prefer using a big fluffy brush to dust this generously all over my cheeks, forehead and chin.
This is so moisturising that it's almost like skincare and is great if you often found that your foundation cakes or creases during the day. It's packed with hydrating grape seed oil and sodium hyaluronate and melts into your skin for a soft, silk-like finish.
This is a seriously glossy gloss, so if it's a subtle gleam you're after, this might not be up your street (although I think it would look magnificent on everyone). I always gravitate towards the shade Fu$$y (a soft, rosy pink), but the best thing about these glosses is that they're infused with shea butter so they actually nourish lips as well as adding shine.
We all know about highlighter for our face but what about our body? This gel formula uses light-diffusing micro-pearls and a sheer tint to deliver an allover glow to your limbs. It looks particularly pretty blended onto collarbones and down shins for instantly healthy-looking skin.
This is a cream-powder hybrid that delivers an intense sheen to the skin. It looks beautiful when worn on the tops of cheekbones, but for me, this is definitely a night-out kind of glow—unless I want to blind someone when I turn up at the office, that is. If you wear highlighter regularly, definitely try this, but if you're a newbie, I'd try the Shimmer Match Stix first.
The Best Everyday Beauty Basics
The foundation that made the beauty industry sit up and listen with its actually inclusive range of 50 different shades. The name says matte, but actually, for me, this formula looks surprisingly natural on the skin. You can build it up from a medium to a full coverage, and while it'll keep oil and excess shine at bay throughout the day, it never looks chalky.
You might think that a mattifying face primer feels a little counterintuitive for a brand that's all about the glow, but surprisingly, this formula manages to both lock makeup in place all day and lend skin a natural radiance. I'd describe it as soft-focus rather than dew, but either way, it would make a really good addition to everyone's makeup bags.
I recently put over 50 concealers to the test, and this one came out on top. It's one of those rare breeds of concealers that manage to cover blemishes, disguise redness and brighten under-eyes without looking like you're wearing anything. I said it then, and I'll say it again: It's like magic in a bottle.
Depending on how you feel about bold colours, you might not consider a red lipstick to be a beauty basic, but for me, a pop of colour is a staple in my makeup bag. Fenty Beauty Lip Paints are comfortable liquid formulas that coat your lips with pigment in one swipe, and stay put for hours and hours. Uncensored is a rich, universally flattering red (and my pick of the bunch), but there are also some great nude hues if that's more your thing.
One of the newer launches from Fenty Beauty, this landed on my desk a few weeks ago and made its way straight into my handbag. First up, the doe-foot applicator makes this balm really easy to apply (great for when you're on the go). It contains shea and mango butter, so it's intensely nourishing, but really, it's the peachy vanilla scent that stole my heart.
I am useless at applying liquid eyeliner, so when I do go for it (on a night out or for a wedding reception, for instance), it needs to be foolproof. This one has a triangle-shaped tip that somehow makes the application feel stress-free. It glides effortlessly onto eyes for easy definition without any dragging or smudging, and it stays put, so there's no risk of panda eyes.
I rarely hear anyone talk about Fenty Beauty tools, but its small collection of brushes is really very good. This one comes with a lid, so it's perfect for popping in your handbag for makeup touch-ups at your desk at the end of the day. I use it for both concealer and foundation, and find that the bristles are tightly packed enough to do a great job of buffing pretty much any cream or liquid product into your skin.
Next up, I just tried 50 highlighters—these are the ones I'd recommend.
