Croissants Are the Surprising Inspiration Behind 2020's Coolest Bag Trend

Sometimes fashion designers find inspiration in the funniest places, and this year it is croissants that are being turned into luxury items. One of the key handbag trends for the year is slouchy shoulder bags with ruching and buttery leather, which makes them resemble a croissant. Bottega Veneta, the brand leading the charge when it comes to accessories in 2020, is largely responsible for this new handbag shape thanks to its large shoulder pouch bag.

Instagram brands are also creating croissant bags, as Nanushka's next It bag, the Anja, is made from soft vegan leather and resembles the classic pastry. We are only one week into 2020, but it is already taking hold with the fashion crowd, so you can expect to see a lot of croissants (in leather and pastry form) outside the shows at fashion month this February.
