A 54-Year-Old Shares 7 Beauty Products That Make Her Look 10 Years Younger
Melissa Meyers is a Los Angeles–based influencer with a focus on beauty, style, travel, and wellness. Her blog, The Glow Girl, aims to empower women to embrace the best version of themselves, age gracefully, and cultivate a glow from the inside out. She also happens to be a 54-year-old with a passion for clean beauty. Below, hear from Meyers on her favourite natural skincare, makeup, and hair formulas. Plus, how she uses them in her daily routine.
I find that as I approach my mid-50s, my skin and body are getting more and more sensitive to what I put on them. Over the past year, I’ve been making an effort to incorporate and use clean, safe beauty products in my life in order to reduce my exposure to toxic chemicals. In doing so, my allergies have improved, I feel mentally clearer and physically better, and I know exactly what I’m putting on my skin. I don't want to compromise on my health or the quality and performance of my beauty and skincare products, which is why I'm excited to share some amazing clean beauty products I use to help me look and feel 10 years younger.
1. Moisturiser
This classic daily moisturiser by Ere Perez, Moringa All-Beauty Crème, contains nutritious ingredients that just melt into the skin, soothing dryness and tired skin, and leaving my complexion glowing. I find it to be the perfect base for under makeup and use it as my first layer of hydration. Hero ingredients include moringa—known to accelerate skin cell renewal—apricot kernel oil to firm and tone, lemon balm for powerful antioxidants, and prickly pear, which is loaded with vitamin E for healthy skin! This brand is recent discovery for me, and I'm obsessed not only with their overall skincare line but also with their makeup line.
2. Eye Cream
Barbara Sturm is the queen of clean skincare, offering up products that are proven to work to diminish signs of ageing, fine lines and wrinkles. She formulates all her products herself, and combines the power of science and natural ingredients. I love several of her products, but in particular the eye cream, which targets dark circles, bags and puffiness. I have a sensitive eye area, and have found this fragrance-free product to be super potent, gentle and effective! Since using this cream, I’ve noticed the bags under my eyes have calmed down significantly—our eyes tell our age, so it’s a great product to invest in if you want to take years off your face without actually going under the knife!
3. Face Serum
Versed is a well-priced, clean beauty brand created by one of Who What Wear's co-founders, Katherine Power. I've been road-testing several products within the line and have been regularly using this hyaluronic acid formula. This serum booster is so light and disappears into the skin effortlessly—I add it daily to my face moisturiser for an extra hydration boost. It gives my dry skin the extra love it needs to stay super moist throughout the day! Yes, please!
4. Exfoliator
This exfoliator from Goop is a natural skincare product that literally polishes away any roughness and smooths uneven areas. This instant exfoliating treatment has been called a "powerful facial in a little jar,” and it’s comprised of natural ingredients and essential oils, micro-exfoliating minerals, and glycolic acid. It’s truly a dual-action product, offering the benefits of both physical and chemical exfoliation.
5. BB Cream & SPF Combo
I wear this product from Coola every single day because it’s one of the best multitaskers I’ve found in natural beauty. It’s an amazing skin-perfecting moisturiser with light/sheer coverage that leaves your skin even-toned and dewy! It comes in three shades depending on your skin tone; I like to use the medium-deep shade for a sun-kissed glow. Coola’s eco-conscious formulas are locally sourced with a Farm to Face® philosophy and are scientifically advanced… This is something I can get behind; I use a variety of the brand’s sun protection products from head to toe.
6. Body Oil
Founded by wellness entrepreneur Miranda Kerr out of her passion for all things holistic and natural, Kora Organics offers some of the best-certified organic skincare products I’ve tested. I recently discovered the line and was blown away by how much I love the toxin-free products designed to safely enrich your skin. I have so many faves but for starters, the Allure Best in Beauty award–winning Noni Glow Body Oil is certainly one to try. This oil immediately absorbs into the skin, and the scent is heavenly. I like to mix it in with my body moisturizer, and then finish with it on my legs and arms before heading out for youthful, glowy skin. I’m a huge fan of oils, an absolute staple for all-over moisture for both face and body.
7. Haircare
As we age, our hair changes texture and needs extra love. I’ve been on the search for clean haircare products that leave my hair looking and feeling its best, but are also sulphate- and silicone-free. Say hello to Innersense! All of the brand’s products have an amazing spa-fresh scent and contain certified-organic plant ingredients that deliver hydration, health, moisture, shine and protection.
I’m not the only one obsessed with the hydrating cream and conditioner, as both have won Allure’s Best in Beauty awards! Ingredients include certified organic monoi oil and aloe that strengthen the hair follicle, smooth cuticles and control frizz. My hair looked super shiny and hydrated after the first use.
I also use and switch off with Gloss Moderne hair products, a minimalist, natural, luxury haircare collection made from the highest-quality and health-forward ingredients. The shampoo and conditioner are both amazing, and the subtle tropical scent is gorgeous! I love the way my hair looks and feels when using their products. Pricey but worth the investment!

Erin has been writing a mix of beauty and wellness content for Who What Wear for over four years. Prior to that, she spent two and half years writing for Byrdie. She now calls Santa Monica home but grew up in Minnetonka, Minnesota, and studied writing, rhetoric, and communication at University of Wisconsin, La Crosse. She studied abroad in Galway, Ireland, and spent a summer in L.A. interning with the Byrdie and Who What Wear family. After graduating from UW, she spent one year in San Francisco, where she worked as a writer for Pottery Barn Kids and PBteen before moving down to L.A. to begin her career as a beauty editor. She considers her day-to-day beauty aesthetic very low-maintenance and relies on staples like clear brow serum (from Kimiko!), Lawless's Lip Plumping Mask in Cherry Vanilla, and an eyelash curler. For special occasions or days when she's taking more meetings or has an event, she'll wear anything and everything from Charlotte Tilbury (the foundations are game-changing), some shimmer on her lids (Stila and Róen do it best), and a few coats of the best mascara-type product on earth, Surratt's Noir Lash Tint.
