8 Anti-Skinny Jeans Outfits Fashion People Are Wearing on Repeat This Autumn
Over the last 12 months we’ve seen plenty of Y2K styles weaving their way into our current fashion trends, from micro-mini skirts and off-duty athleisure to bow-embellished ballet flats, and it looks like it’s not slowing down anytime soon. Now, it seems the fashion set are throwing it back to the 90’s and early 00’s once more with the resurgence of bootcut jeans. Yes, bootcut jeans.
The perfect median between skinny and wide-leg offerings, this more subtle and minimalist approach to a flared cut boasts a snug fit with a small leg opening, ideal for pairing with boots (the clue is in the name). Worn by the likes of Naomi Campbell, Paris Hilton and Jennifer Aniston, the love-or-hate denim jean was known for their lengthening effect, without compromising on their curve-hugging cut. Whilst many sported the style with midriff-baring baby tees and relaxed fit bomber jackets, others took the double denim route, before completing the smart-casual look with a pair of leather boots or pointed-toe kitten heels.
This autumn, bootcut is officially back in the spotlight again and it’s giving us all the noughties nostalgia. Paying homage to the controversial denim attire, boot-cut strutted its way down the runways of luxury fashion houses, Chloé and Blumarine, earlier this year. What once felt like a distant memory is now back in full force, modelled in recent times on Kate Moss, Bella Hadid and Cindy Crawford, only adding to our appetite for 90’s denim. Although once always accompanied by a low-rise waist, additions to the recent trend flaunt a more approachable mid to high-rise waistband, from Frame’s iconic Le Boot style to Agolde’s highly regarded design.
Our wardrobes may be feeling reminiscent, but boot-cut’s streamlined makeover makes the cut in this season’s closet. Keep scrolling to see the jeans’ well-anticipated revival that’s been all over our Instagram feeds.

These M&S slingbacks remind me of a similar Chanel number. Nailing a classic style, their block heel and pressure-reducing insole mean elegance has never been so easy.
2. Knit Vest + Low-Top Sneakers
Style Notes: This season we're bringing back the layered shirt and knit vest combo. Dress down with laid-back jeans and low-top trainers and you've nailed academia chic.

Wear this cotton poplin shirt buttoned up underneath a knitted V-neck vest for a preppy look.
Panelled sneakers have filled our streets (and timelines) this year. I can’t help but pop these vintage tennis shoes straight into my basket.
3. Statement Cardigan + Leather Shoulder Bag
Style Notes: Great for layering, cardigans are a sensible buy for the colder months. Partner a pair of faded-finish boot-cut jeans with a statement button-down knit for a cosy yet stylish vibe.

6. Cropped Knit + Ballet Flats
Style Notes: A cosy knit always makes a good pairing with dark wash denim - and that doesn't just mean jumpers. Ideal for those casual days, whilst still championing a put-together OOTD, complete the look by slipping on your comfiest ballet flats.
Shop the Look:
Pair these Weekday jeans with a pair of dainty ballet flats or dress down with your go-to low-top trainers.

7. Low-Rise + Pointed Toe Kitten Heels
Style Notes: If you're anything like me, you're always stuck choosing an appropriate outfit for when you're going 'out out' in these colder months, but bootcut jeans have given us the answer. Style your 90's low-waisted boot-cut denim with a coordinating relaxed-fit denim jacket, pointed-toe kitten heels and a long-handled mini bag - effortless.
