I Thought This Jacket Trend Was Over—7 Sophisticated Spring Styles Proving Me Wrong

There's one silhouette that's stolen my attention this season and it's cropped jackets. Relaxed jackets and oversized blazers have had their fair share of time on the runways and the racks of your favourite brands, but if the street style set is telling us anything, it's that this clipped style will be the go-to outerwear choice.

I personally always layer up in looser fits and baggier jackets, especially it's cooler out. However, with spring on the horizon, the cropped jacket's short and sharp shape ultimately makes these pieces far more sleek than their lengthier counterparts.

And you can find them in almost any material and style—whether you love a classic tweed look or prefer the slick sheen of a biker jacket. What completely solidifies them as a staple is that they can slide neatly into countless outfits. Cropped jackets pair well with dresses, billowy trousers, micro shorts and wide-leg jeans, as Sienna Miller showcased at Chloé's spring/summer 2025 collection presentation at Paris Fashion Week back in September.

Whilst it's been some time since we've seen cropped styles fully command our attention, the new season has clearly started their resurgence. A clear hallmark of spring/summer 2025 trends, you can rest assured these will dominate across all major cultural capitals.

After Hailey Bieber (someone who is well versed in spring jacket trends), Kendall Jenner and Kylie Jenner have all worn iterations of the cropped jacket, making it an indisputable part of their off-duty wardrobe as a result. Ganni also recently released a trimmed trench coat version, proving that fashion stalwarts and labels alike are backing on cropped jackets to be the style du jour.
