The 2022 Trend Every Fashion Person Is Ditching Their Jeans For
Before you come for me, hear me out. Jeans are definitely the backbone of my wardrobe most of the time, but lately, I've been putting them on hold for an item that's just as versatile, low-key and cool as my beloved denim but much fresher and more current, in my humble opinion. The trend in question? Baggy trousers.
Take a glance at the S/S 22 runways, and you'll notice a strong theme throughout the collections: Trousers are getting roomier. Whether it's the relaxed-fit suiting trousers that have become our staples or newer styles like cargos and parachute pants, all signs point to the reign of the baggy-pants trend—even among the Instagram crowd that's devoted to classic style. (Looking at you, French girls.) Much to my surprise, fashion people are really selling me on this once-controversial trend and solidifying my decision to put my denim on hold this spring.
Ahead, scroll to shop the baggy trousers I'm eyeing if you're in the mood to freshen up your wardrobe as well.
Style Notes: Go up a size or two in a style of trousers you already love.
Style Notes: Look for wide-leg trousers that fit a little lower on the hips—that's the 2022 vibe.
Style Notes: If you're feeling gutsy, pair yours with a crop top and belt à la Miu Miu's spring runway.
Style Notes: I'm all about pants that sit right on the hips, and this simple outfit is perfection.
I can't stop thinking about this waistband.
Style Notes: Cargo and utility pants look especially cool in a baggier fit.
Initially, parachute pants scared me, but now, I'm warming up to the idea. Neutral colours are a great way to ease into the trend.
Style Notes: Bomber jackets and retro sneakers are two more spring trends that happen to pair flawlessly with baggy pants.
Style Notes: Fashion people are giving the pants an elevated feel with sleek heels and leather jackets.
Style Notes: When in doubt, keep it simple with tried-and-true basics like a cardigan and ankle boots.
If it says "menswear" in the name, you know it has to be good.
Next up, easy throw-on spring dresses we love.
