6 Budget-Friendly Summer Trends That Are Anything But Throwaway
The world of fashion isn't exactly known for being particularly kind to those on a budget, especially if you're wanting to invest in pieces that have longevity. Well, luckily for you, it's basically my job to spot those high-street winners that will look expensive and feel premium without costing you a fortune. After all, I have high-street pieces in my wardrobe that I've been wearing for over 10 years. It's just about being smart with your spending.
But down to the important stuff: Which summer trends do I think are worth your precious pounds? There are six that I personally vouch for, and they're all styles that feel fresh right now but that I'm still convinced will continue to look great for many summers to come. I'm talking shorts sets, which will keep you cool, are easy to style and can be mixed and matched with other items in your wardrobe. Try tucking the top into jeans or throwing the shorts over a bikini.
I have also become a T-shirt-dress convert this season, primarily thanks to COS's premium-feel midis. (I bought this style in black last week.) They are a godsend for those who don't do boho florals, and I'll style mine with my Birkenstocks, a crossbody bag and square sunnies for lazy summer weekends. So if you're on the lookout for budget-friendly buys that will stand the test of time, scroll down to see and shop my summer-ready edit.
Shorts Sets
Style Notes: The shorts set is this summer's answer to the comfy co-ord. Just throw the matching top and shorts together, add sandals, and you're good to go.

T-Shirt Dresses
Style Notes: I wasn't sure about the T-shirt-dress trend until I tried on one of COS's cool iterations. They're a perfect option for minimalists who aren't big fans of florals.

Power Pink
Style Notes: Forget any Barbie associations because this season, pink packs a punch. I'm a big fan of Mango's dramatic tiered maxi dress, which would look very chic with Monki's colour-match sunnies.

Wide-Leg Trousers
Style Notes: Okay, this isn't technically a high-summer item, but I personally wear mine all year round. (Hello, amazing cost per wear.) For warmer days, embrace the slouch with chunky flat sandals and a tank top.

Miniskirts
Style Notes: There's not much that holidays more than a mini, and luckily, the high street has delivered on this front this year. I'm obsessed with & Other Stories' simple A-line style, but I can also imagine Mango's smocked iteration being perfect for the beach.

Linen Separates
Style Notes: When the mercury rises, linen is the first thing I reach for. Whether you go for a linen dress, shirt or trousers, this is sure to be a go-to for many years to come.
