Celebrities Are Already All Over 2023's Major Trends—6 They're Wearing Now
Leave it to celebrities to be fashion's earliest adopters. Now that the spring 2023 shows have come to a close, we've done our top-level reporting on the trends to know for next season, but we typically have to wait another six months for those aforementioned trends to actually hit the market and the closets of fashion people. It turns out the rules of this waiting game don't apply to A-listers.
In the wake of Fashion Month, we've already spotted a number of our most stylish stars sporting the trends we just saw gliding down the runways a mere matter of weeks prior. How is this even possible? Well, celebs either have access to the industry's top stylists to pull the looks for them, or they have a close relationship with designers themselves and can snatch these fresh-off-the-runway looks before anybody else does. So whether you're looking for inspiration on how to translate 2023's major trends to your own wardrobe or you're simply curious to find out styles celebs are backing, look no further than the below six outfits.
From sheer dresses to knee-length skirts, celebrities are already all over these 2023 trends, and we're not even close to the new year.
Sleek Maxi Hemlines
As a longtime brand ambassador, Hailey Bieber favours Saint Laurent for almost all of her red carpet appearances. Most recently, the Rhode founder stepped out in one of the spring 2023 looks that showed in Paris only a few short weeks prior: a slinky copper-hued column dress that she wore to the Elle Women in Hollywood celebration. Maxi hemlines were all over the spring collections, and this Bieber ensemble cements them as a key trend to know.

Knee-Length Skirts
On Emily Ratajkowski: Dolce & Gabbana skirt; Louis Vuitton bag; Khaite Davis Knee High Boots (£1020)
Knee-length skirts are notoriously tricky to style, which is why we haven't seen too many street style moments showcasing the trend—yet. But leave it to EmRata and her low-key style to make the trend look downright approachable. She styled hers with tall knee boots and a button-down shirt, proving that all you need to pull off the look are a few cool staples.

Sheer Dresses
On Jenna Ortega: Valentino dress and Tan-Go Platform Pointed Toe Pump (£810)
Sheer dresses were all over the spring runways from New York to Paris, so the trend had already been on our radar as one to watch. Imagine our surprise and delight when none other than Gen Z scream queen and the star of our October cover Jenna Ortega stepped out in a sheer lace LBD and sky-high platforms, wearing two daring trends in one go.

Tight, Tall Boots
On Amal Clooney: Stella McCartney Asymmetric Ribbed Organic Cotton Turtleneck Dress (£750) and Frayme Small Shoulder Bag (£1175)
Amal Clooney's choice in shoes remains controversial for the airport, but context aside, they happen to be a bubbling shoe trend, and the runways are confirming it. At Jil Sander, Diesel, and Fendi, tight and tall boots popped up in a number of collections, and they have us questioning whether they'll replace the structured knee boots we're all wearing now.

Flat versions are just as impactful.
Big Belts
Trend queen Bella Hadid is at it again—this time with a 2023 trend that's actually quite classic. We love it when classic items become trendy, so we were thrilled to see that belts of all kinds flooded the spring/summer 2023 runways. But the best pairing of them all (in our opinion, at least) is jeans with a classic leather belt in brown or black, and Hadid seems to fully agree.

Shimmery and Sheer Numbers
On Olivia Wilde: Alexandre Vauthier gown; Jennifer Meyer earrings
"Naked" dresses are nothing new, but each season, they come back in a different form. For next spring? The crystal-adorned sheer gown that Olivia Wilde wore to last month's Academy Museum Gala is a strong contender. The daring look may be a fashion risk, but Wilde is one of a growing number of celebs who are embracing the shimmery see-through look, which now includes Ratajkowski and Hannah Bronfman. On the runway, Fe Noel showed a stunning gown cut from a similar crystal-mesh fabric and finished with feather-trimmed cuffs.
