The Only 6 Shoe Brands Spiking on Google Right Now
We know you come to Who What Wear looking for intel on the latest trends and insider info on what products to shop to nail each and every one. So it should come as no surprise that a large part of our job here at WWW involves keeping a close eye on Google trends, including the search topics that are spiking at any given moment. Right now, there's one footwear trend that's clearly reigning supreme, based on the most-searched-for shoe brands: dad sneakers.
Earlier this year, we asked some of the most reputable experts in the industry to weigh in on the best shoe trends of 2019, and we're here to report that the most recent data from Google backs up the bold prediction that dad sneakers will continue to dominate this year. Ahead, we're breaking down the only six shoe brands that are trending on Google right now and what that means for 2019 shoe trends. Keep scrolling to find out which brands made the cut, and shop some of our favorite styles from each label.
1. Champion
Topping the list, Champion also happens to be the most affordable brand among the shoe labels spiking on Google right now, supporting our editor Allyson Payer's prediction that designer dad sneakers are on the way out.
2. Fila
Seeing as it's a favorite of celebs like Emily Ratajkowski, Kendall Jenner, Romee Strijd, and Dakota Fanning, it's no surprise to see Fila taking the number two spot among the shoe brands currently trending on Google. With prices starting at $65 a pair, Fila is another great economical choice for those wanting to get in on the clunky dad sneaker trend.
3. Off-White
On the other end of the price spectrum, the sought-after brand Off-White currently sits in the number three slot. The label's Off-Court sneakers have garnered something of a cult following among the fashion-forward set as a sportier alternative to clunkier dad sneakers.
4. Balenciaga
Although we just made the case for affordable dad sneakers, searches for designer footwear brands are still holding strong, indicating that the overall dad sneaker trend isn't going anywhere anytime soon. (BTW, retailers are still having a hard time keeping Balenciaga's Triple S sneakers in stock.)
5. Nike Air Force 1
Nike Air Force 1s are the $90 sneakers celebrities spanning Bella Hadid to Jordyn Woods to Kylie Jenner have loved for years. Coming in at number five, it's clear the hype around these classic sneakers is still as high as ever.
6. Dr. Martens
Although Dr. Martens just made the cut at number six, the fact that searches for the brand are spiking confirms our prediction that utility combat boots are the next "ugly" shoe trend that you'll hate now but wear soon.
Next up, these are the under-$100 sneakers dominating 2019.
