Fact: The Red Carpet Can't Even Touch Tracee Ellis Ross's Instagram
Today is Tracee Ellis Ross’s birthday, and in honor of such an occasion, there’s something that needs to be pointed out about the actress and style icon (a term that should be used thoughtfully, but certainly fits in her case): Hers is one of the best fashion Instagrams there is.
As someone who closely follows influencers, stylists, designers, and fellow editors, I’m always most struck by how the Blackish star’s Instagram is kind of all of those accounts in one. Want a fashion history lesson? Ross has got the archives (thanks to her mother, Diana, of course). Like to see a runway show from the front row? Ross is not only in attendance but also stopping traffic when it comes to street style. Finally, looking for all the details on a truly beautiful red carpet outfit? Ross is an A-list celebrity who’s always game to share every single detail—with tags, thank you—of her ensembles, no matter what event she’s attending—behind-the-scenes images not optional.
Point is, while Ross is quite skilled at dazzling us by wearing Chanel, Valentino, or, in the case of this year’s AMAs, black designers, who we don’t typically see represented on primetime television, her Instragam game is just as strong. Furthermore, her appetite for statement-making, joy-inducing style is practically infectious. So, consider the below a bit of TER appreciation that’s fitting for today, and for any time she slays a look, which is often.
Spilling all the outfit details since 2014 (at least).
If you’re lucky enough to have access to the Diana Ross archives, you share it with the world. At least, we assume that’s her daughter’s motto.
Wondering what she wears on her hit show? Ross provides those details on Instagram, too.
No one does drama better.
Sorry, other influencers. TER has the beautiful-doorway, sleek-outfit post perfected.
Supporting black fashion designers at the AMAs this year.
She’s never one to shy away from a powerful political statement.
Not everyone can turn a hotel hallway into a runway.
But she can.
Or rock such an unexpected color combination.
Frankly, does anyone have as much fun on Instagram as TER does?
Just as importantly, does anyone wear fringe better?
The woman has not met a silhouette she won’t try. We respect that.
Nor has she met a bathroom where she can’t direct an impromptu fashion shoot.
Her love for statement style goes way back.
And her skills in front of a camera? Unmatched.
Remember when she even designed her own collection for JCPenney? It was good.
Ross, please offer classes on how to find your light.
And how to leave five million Instagram followers speechless.
A vacation or a fashion moment? (Hint: It’s both.)
Here’s to 46 more years of bright, joyful looks.
