There's no denying the fact that Free People is quite youthful by nature. I first started shopping at Free People in my college days, when my closet was 50% sundresses, and I knew it to have the best affordable ones. These days, there's still plenty of the beachy-bohemian items its known for, but it's easier than ever to find forward, sophisticated pieces. That's why, as a 34-year-old fashion editor, I frequently head to Free People in search of wallet-friendly basics and trend pieces (none of which are sundresses) to add to my wardrobe.

At the moment, Free People is leaning heavily into the California-cool trend that's happening in fashion this spring. Tie-dye, Tevas, bike shorts, and tropical prints abound, and I'm on board. There are also plenty of versatile basics in stock, as well as chic neutrals that I plan on wearing together for a tonal look and cool accessories to stock up on. No matter your age, I highly suggest checking out the 23 items below. I think I've hit the Free People jackpot.

Next up, shop the best under-$100 version of every spring trend.
