23 Things a 30-Something Fashion Editor Wants From Free People

There's no denying the fact that Free People is quite youthful by nature. I first started shopping at Free People in my college days, when my closet was 50% sundresses, and I knew it to have the best affordable ones. These days, there's still plenty of the beachy-bohemian items its known for, but it's easier than ever to find forward, sophisticated pieces. That's why, as a 34-year-old fashion editor, I frequently head to Free People in search of wallet-friendly basics and trend pieces (none of which are sundresses) to add to my wardrobe.
At the moment, Free People is leaning heavily into the California-cool trend that's happening in fashion this spring. Tie-dye, Tevas, bike shorts, and tropical prints abound, and I'm on board. There are also plenty of versatile basics in stock, as well as chic neutrals that I plan on wearing together for a tonal look and cool accessories to stock up on. No matter your age, I highly suggest checking out the 23 items below. I think I've hit the Free People jackpot.
Love your Dr. Martens combat boots? Trade them for these come spring.
Bucket hats are so much more flattering than you'd think they'd be.
Use this cow-print bag as a work bag, and prepare to get a lot of compliments.
Next up, shop the best under-$100 version of every spring trend.
