9 Outfits That Will Work for Any Festive Event This Season

Ah, the festive season. When it comes to fashion, this time of year can cause a bit of stress for those who have a lot of events to attend. It's not that the festive season is bad—it's imbued with the sense of a promise of a good time, a great night out, and an experience you’ll never forget. That means there’s a lot of pressure on getting your outfit right. But the truth is not everyone loves sequins. While some want to go all out, others prefer to simply add a flourish to their usual attire. What we’re saying is there is no one right way to dress for the festive season, so here’s where Who What Wear and The Outnet step in. Over the past few weeks, we asked you to choose between two items out of the following categories: shoes, skirts and coats. From your selection, we styled each piece from The Outnet three different ways that are all totally wearable for any event over the next month. While some are full-on party looks, some are ideal for those who prefer a subtle approach. Keep scrolling for nine outfits that will solve any of your festive dressing problems.
Style notes: Want to make a knockout jumpsuit look even more incredible? Just add suede platform sandals and a metallic bag.
Wear to: Your friend's New Year's Eve house party.
Style notes: Jeans and a dressy top are a great idea for a party, but to make the look really stand out, you need a truly fabulous pair of heels.
Wear to: The office Christmas lunch.
Style notes: If you're not a fan of festive dressing, simply grab your favourite dress and add a pair of heels. It's as easy as that.
Wear to: Boxing Day at the in-laws.
Style notes: When it comes to sequin skirts, I'm a big fan of pairing them with a simple white shirt, as you can let the skirt, quite literally, shine.
Wear to: Festive date night.
Style notes: If you want to pare back a sequin skirt or want to keep warm, add a formfitting roll-neck and a pair of black court shoes.
Wear to: Work drinks (that turn into going "out out").
Style notes: Oversize jumpers don't have to be cast aside. Incorporate your favourite cosy knit by layering it over a sequin skirt.
Wear to: Christmas dinner with friends.
Style notes: A trench coat is the ideal piece of outerwear for the festive period. To show off your outfit, however, throw it over your shoulders and leave it open.
Wear to: A festive trip to the cinema.
Style notes: If you're tying your trench, then let your shoes do the talking by wearing an eye-catching pair.
Wear to: A festive night out with friends.
Style notes: If you're wearing a sleeveless top, dress or jumpsuit, your trench coat is the ultimate protector. Keep it looking festive with a pair of velvet sandals peeping out underneath.
Wear to: Any New Year's Eve do.
