This season, swim week was about way more than just the bikinis. Swimsuits were styled out every which way, and one of our favorite add-ons was, hands down, the sarong. Coming in an array of colorways and often matching the swimsuit underneath, sarongs proved to be the fashionable must-have among your swimwear wardrobe.

We went from living in sweatpants to fully styling out our swimsuits with matching pants, shirts, and dresses. Consider this your official warning to abide by the "full look only" policy.

Nothing But Net

This summer proved to be the summer of crochet separates, and Miami Swim Week proved to be the indicator that the trend isn't going anywhere. Go for a fully netted look via a bikini and matching cover-up, or choose just one to don on your next beach vacation.

Shine On

The goal here is to choose a metallic swimsuit that is so shiny it might blind you. Okay, that was a bad joke, but you get the picture. The higher the shine, the better, and if you ask me, the bolder the color, the better as well.

Cutout swimwear is always a sight for sore eyes, and this season was no different. The cutouts themselves, however, keep getting more and more creative, which is keeping all of us on our toes.

Midriff floss is yet another swimwear trend that officially proved its dominance, as it was spotted on nearly every runway during Miami Swim Week. If you haven't jumped on the bandwagon yet, the time is now.
