I'm the first one to admit that I love a good soirée. If you invite me to a party, the odds are high that I will promptly RSVP. You see, I'm one of those really extroverted people who sometimes fall under the category of "life of the party" (if I do say so myself). I'm just one of those people who is always down. I love to dance, I love to meet new people, and I love a great cocktail. There's nothing better to me than having a great party on your calendar to look forward to, except maybe planning an outfit to wear to said epic party. Outfit planning for a party is an art form. You have to take into consideration a lot of different factors.

What kind of party is it? Are you going to a rooftop party for your friend's new engagement or a day party in Brooklyn? Are you off to a chic dinner party uptown or your friend's birthday bash downtown? Is a beach party coming up? Are you attending your friend's wedding and planning the wedding-guest look of the year? Whatever the occasion, the key is to think about the event you're headed to and what vibe you're going for. For parties, you definitely want to wear something you feel comfortable and confident in, but this is also your time to step out of your comfort zone and spice things up a bit—it's a party, after all!

There are six outfit formulas that I always keep in my back pocket when I know I have a great party on the horizon. Keep scrolling to see which six foolproof party looks I swear by.

Bold Dress + Raffia Clutch + Bangles + Strappy Sandals

Nothing says summer like a pretty bold dress. If you don’t like being the center of attention, then this look is not for you. It’s the perfect look for attending a wedding, a gala, or a formal dinner party during the summer months. Add gold jewelry and strappy sandals to complete this head-turning ensemble.

Slinky Tank Dress + Heeled Mules + Shoulder Bag

There’s something so simple yet sexy about a slinky tank dress that I love for this summer. It has a ‘90s supermodel feel to it, and it works perfectly for a rooftop party or dinner party in the city.

Knee Length Skirt + Flirty Top + Heels

Skirts are a summer staple, and I love this knee-length hem. Just a tad longer than a miniskirt and just a bit shorter than a midi skirt. Pair it with a flirty summer top and heels for a brunch or daytime rooftop party.

All-White Look + Colorful Bag

One of the biggest perks of summer is that all-white outfits aren't just allowed—they're encouraged. Adding a colorful bag makes the look feel even more summery and fun. I'm reaching for this look when I have a luncheon or a daytime event.

Printed Set + Mini Bag + Sandals

This look is my go-to out of all the looks on this list. A marching set is just so easy yet stylish. Whether you're running to drinks, a first date, a party, or dinner, you're guaranteed to turn heads with this fail-proof 'fit.

Beaded Dress

If you don’t like turning heads (in the best way possible) then, this look is not for you. Pack this in your bag for a night out on vacation or for something special on your summer calendar.
