7 Easy Summer Outfits Fashion People Are Repeat-Wearing Right Now

I know, I know—we’ve only had about five days of sunshine so far this spring, but that’s enough to put me in summer mode. What can I say? I’m optimistic. Whatever happens between now and June, summer is inevitable, and I would like to be prepared when the opportunity to wear something fun without the need for a trench coat or knit presents itself. And knowing that you, our dear Who What Wear readers, are sartorially savvy, I have a hunch that your minds are also gravitating towards your summer outfits. Well, we’re in good company.
Just this week, it seems like every influencer I follow has also begun to hone their summer aesthetic (it’s the sun—I tell you), and in doing so, they’ve been serving up a fresh array of impressive outfits. Although I’m something of a minimalist, I’ve loved seeing more joyful colours and prints coming through. After all, what says summer more than tie-dye in sunset shades?
I’m so invested that I’ve already started saving down summer 2022 outfit trends I plan on trying over the course of the next few months. When I looked back at my latest slew of screenshots, I could see that seven such outfit trends kept cropping up. To see what they are and, of course, shop in case you’re missing any of the essentials you might need to re-create them, just keep scrolling.
1. BRIGHT BLAZER + JEANS
I don’t know what I love more—the lime blazer or the orange handbag.
Use your bright blazer to amp up wardrobe basics, such as plain vests and trainers.
Shop the look:
Looking for highlighter brights? Turn your attention to Jacquemus.
Light-wash denim creates less of a contrast to your bright blazer.
2. TIE-DYE DRESS + CHUNKY SANDALS
If this multi-hue tie-dyed dress doesn’t make you feel summery inside, nothing will.
This Loewe dress was a sell-out hit, but I’m keeping an eye out for restocks.
Shop the look:
Match the colour of your chunky sandals to a shade on your dress for an outfit that’s instantly pulled-together.
If you prefer a more muted palette, this dress is ideal.
3. CROCHET + GOLD JEWELLERY
Crochet is making a huge comeback this season, but forget the full-on hippie vibes. Fashion people are styling their tops and cardigans with jersey basics and sleek gold jewellery for 2022.
This look is ideal for the odd chilly summer day, which we all know is inevitable in Britain.
Shop the look:
High-end designers are leading the crochet revival for summer.
4. WHITE DRESS + FISHERMAN SANDALS
I have a real soft spot for white dresses, and now, I know exactly how to style them to make them feel new this summer—with fisherman sandals.
It’s a look that keeps recurring on social media, and thanks to its simplicity, I totally get why.
Shop the look:
A piece I’d love to add to my white-dress collection.
5. SHIRTING + SARONG SKIRT
I’m going on a beach holiday for the first time in four years this summer, and this is the 2022 outfit trend I plan to wear for the entirety of it.
Sarongs are trending thanks to the Y2K aesthetic, and as a ’90s child, I’m not mad about it.
Shop the look:
Just looking at this skirt makes me want to sit by a pool with a margarita in hand.
6. ORANGE + ORANGE
If you thought kelly green was big for 2022, then you thought right. However, I have a feeling tangerine tones are going to overtake it in the popularity stakes as we head into summer.
My favourite dressers aren’t just sticking to one orange piece in their outfits, either—some are wearing two simultaneously.
Shop the look:
Russell & Bromley’s shoe game is so strong right now.
The colour works for more formal summer occasions, too, especially in satin fabrications.
This COS bag sold out once already. I just thought you should be aware of that.
7. BLUE SHIRT + ECRU TROUSERS
Minimalists aren’t being left out of the summer 2022 outfit-trend action—I’ve lost count of the number of influencers I’ve seen wearing light-blue shirting with cream trousers as temperatures have risen.
So chic, this quiet colour palette will allow you to incorporate shades of black and tan into your ensemble.
