6 New Outfits You Can Create Using Items You Already Own
While fashion week is usually reserved for the most outlandish looks and OTT outfits, this year it has been refreshing to see many of our fashion favourites choosing to attend the shows in surprisingly understated looks. From roll-necks and blue jeans to trenchcoats and blazers, the fashion set has opted for pared-down outfits this season, which have generally been comprised of the basic wardrobe staples most of us already own. In fact, a number of the key looks are so simple, we're convinced you can recreate them using items in your existing closet.
Do you own a few beige jumpers? Great! You can very easily steal Eva Chen's double-knit look from the JW Anderson show. Are you in the possession of blue jeans, a white tee and a beige trench coat? Wonderful! You can basically copy Sabina Socol's exact look from NYFW. Or if you happen to own a white blazer and black midi dress, you're already 90% of the way to reimagining Olivia Palermo's outfit from the Gucci show.
Whether this is proof that celebs are championing the concept of a capsule wardrobe or it is simply a coincidence, we will never know. But one thing is for sure: If re-creating their looks is this easy, we'll certainly be drawing inspiration from the style set throughout the rest of the fashion season.
Keep scrolling for six street style looks you can very easily create using items you already own.
Style Notes: Make like Eva Chen and drape a second jumper over your shoulders. Not only will this keep you warm throughout winter, but it will also make the perfect tonal accessory.
Style Notes: Known for her timeless style, Olivia Palermo kept things very simple at the Gucci show in Milan yesterday, pairing a sleek black dress with a structured white blazer.
Style Notes: As is often the case with chic French women, Sabina Socol knows the power of great basics. Here she pairs a timeless trench with blue jeans and a white tee.
Style Notes: Perhaps the most simple winter combination is a jumper and jeans. This showgoer kept things interesting by opting for a jumper with a bit of flair.
Style Notes: Most of us have at least one leather jacket in our wardrobes. This fashion week attendee paired hers against a roll-neck jumper and blue jeans for a simple yet effective fashion week look.
Style Notes: A beige coat is a forever investment, as are knee-high boots and a pleated skirt. Pairing all three together makes for a timeless look that will work for seasons to come.
