7 Street Style Trends That Will Be Everywhere This Year

Fashion has changed dramatically over the past 10 years. Yes, we still get our main trends from the designers showcasing their latest collections, but we also get a lot of them off the runway too. Street style is a huge part of the industry in how we predict and understand trends. It’s why we all love looking a stylishly dressed people on Instagram. My theory is that street style perfectly bridges a gap between runway and consumer. While a model wearing the latest collections might feel a little inaccessible, street stylers are able to turn those pieces into something that feels more everyday. They show you just how you might want to wear the key pieces of the season, and as a result can be a much more accurate predictor of which trends are going to take off.

Whether that’s the Bottega clutch bag, a pair of leather shorts or track sole boots, where trends might have felt intimidating before, they’re translated into how we can all wear them. True, street style has become so huge it can start to feel a little bit overwhelming, but that’s what we’re here for. Thanks to Copenhagen Fashion Week and Paris Couture Week, we’ve already got a good idea of what some of these trends will be. Ready to see what we’ll all have in our wardrobes for 2020? Posh Tracksuits

I can’t tell you how happy I am that this trend is back. There are two key elements to this look, however. First, your top and bottoms need to match, and second, you need to have a smart coat and accessories to go with it. And voilà, you have the posh tracksuit.

Shearling-Trimmed Coats

Shearling is nothing new—it crops up pretty much every season. Twenty-twenty’s take on it is boldly coloured coats with a collar and cuff in a bright colour too. Wear with other bold colours for the best take on this trend.

Suits in Knee-High Boots

Knee-high boots are often reserved for wearing with skinny jeans or even leggings. But today’s trend is all about a looser-fit style of trousers tucked into the boots. Chicer than it sounds, trust me.

Whether you go faux or real, there’s no escaping that leather is still huge. After last year’s popularity, it continues to grow with coloured leather pieces taking centre stage for the upcoming season.
