The BFFs of Fashion Week's Street Style Scene

Fashion month can be a miserable old time if you’re a lone wolf. What do you do if your phone runs out of juice three shows before the end of the day? Or you have a Compeed-related emergency on your big toe and you can’t find a Boots (because of battery on said phone)? You need someone to help plan your assault on the show schedule—someone who values the importance of pit stops and preferably has a portable charger on their person at all times.

Plenty of street stylers have realised that fashion week is the time to bring your co-dependent, clingy side to the surface. Not only does a BFF shot make for instant Instagram fodder, but many of the duos who started off getting photographed two-by-two outside show venues are now in business together. Here are the six most fashionable pairs to look out for.

Double Gs soon won’t just make you think of that Gucci belt bag you’ve got your eye on but the Italian beauties behind fledgeling label Attico—Gilda and Giorgia. The pair is a walking billboard for their brand’s louche dressing gowns, sequinned wraps and velvet ribbon-tie sandals.

Of all the groomed and glossy blogger BFFs, Shea Marie and Caroline Vreeland are the most into twinning. For their first day of PFW, the blonde pair posted a photo in matching boots (tomato-red leather), bags (Fendi) and grey check (trousers and coat).

This dynamic duo has worked together on the Man Repeller website—Leandra as founder and Amelia as head of creative—for eight years and still don’t seem to be sick of each other. Or are they? Leandra (jokingly?) captioned this New York Fashion Week photo as “Get away from me.” Amelia’s riposte? “Miss u.” Their outfits side-by-side—puffed sleeves! boxy blazers!—are kind of like complementary colours; should be all kinds of clashy awfulness but somehow look artful.

You might think glossy magazines are a breeding ground for a kind of The Devil Wears Prada meets Hunger Games competitiveness, but these two must be the exception to the rule. They met at Harper’s Bazaar and created a website dedicated to the delectation of accessories, And Finally. If their LFW outfits are anything to go by—Gucci sunglasses, Fendi bags, Chanel boots—expect one read to instantly shrink your pay packet.

These honey-haired ladies might be London-based but are both French-born. They met through Camille’s ex-boyfriend—“he was very useful,” she quipped in an interview with Pepper Your Talk—and now run a podcast together called Fashion No Filter (their biggest coo to date was getting Susan Sarandon to divulge what her first red carpet experience was like). Hit up their Instagram feeds to see them striding across Parisian pedestrian crossings in perfect synchronisation.

It’s a devotion to maximalism that unites these bloggers. Forget sleek and muted. You can spot Lau (left) and Leung (right) from a mile off at fashion month. Just look for the pistachio-green Molly Goddard frocks or the Bryan Boy sandwich at Milan Fashion Week with the ladies in metallic Gucci coats (Lau referred to them as her “more is more famiglia”).

These two thoroughly deserve the nickname we just made up: “Great Danes." Teisbaek (left) is a blogger-influencer-consultant, while Carl (right) is a London-based stylist with a serious Loewe habit. Pictured together at Teisbaek’s August wedding—Carl in ruffled Magda Butrym and Teisbaek in, sigh, Vera Wang—they set the bar for every “fashion” type’s nuptials intimidatingly high.
