It's Hard to Find Star-Print Dresses That Aren't Sold Out—But We Did It
Back in October, we identified the dress trend you'll be seeing at every party this festive season, and our prediction is already proving very accurate. According to fashion search engine Lyst, searches for "star dresses" have spiked by 57% since the first week of September, and it's hard to find a star-print dress that's still in stock. Last year, Rixo's Moonlit print was so popular that the blouse and dress sold out within days, and the clever people at Net-a-Porter are bringing it back this week just in time for Christmas.
"The print has stayed the exact same this time around, as it has been so high in demand from last December, so we didn't feel the need to change it," explains Rixo founders Henrietta Rix and Orlagh McCloskey. "Some test prints were drawn up, but at the end of the day, nothing could beat the original one! All three styles from last year (the Moss blouse, the Gemma ruffle-wrap minidress and our incredible backless maxi Rose dress) were only produced in only 45 units."
The trend is picking up on the high street too: M&S's constellation-print dress was discovered by the fashion crowd and sold out in all sizes. Star accessories are also having a moment, as Lyst notes that searches for "star jewellery" have increased by 39% in the last six months, with "star-stud earrings" being looked at once every three searches. We told you the galaxy print is in every high-street brand right now.
Excuse the pun, but this is a real star buy.
