Moving into a new apartment can be overwhelming, and I definitely felt that way when I first found my current home. I spent so much time and energy working on the living room that I lost the remaining energy I had left when it was time to finish the bedroom. That meant my bedroom was more of a functional room for the first two years that I lived here, and now, it is finally time to give it a fashion-person upgrade.

I was acquainted with interior designer Sarah Solis, and she gave me the inspiration I have been needing to get started on this journey. It turns out there are only a few easy changes required to make your bedroom peak fashion person. Let's talk about it.

It seems that I have decision-making paralysis, so the process of this project was… long. Picking out different colors, moods, and even candles was hard for me, but I think my biggest takeaway was to never rush the process because the end result was worth the wait.

In the process of chatting through my bedroom woes, I asked Solis to spill some of the interior-design trends that she's most excited to adopt in 2024.

Regarding interiors in 2024, what's your "vibe?"

My vibe is minimal with singular bold moments to create an emotional impact and, as always, rooted in the natural world.

How would you describe your personal style in the home-décor realm?

Artful and well-balanced. Always weighing the feminine and masculine elements.

Please name four décor trends that you're excited about for 2024:

1. Light Sculptures

Isamu Noguchi's Akari Light Sculptures are classic, iconic pieces of design, but right now, the spherical ceiling lights are really having a moment. I'm always so inspired by great, artful lighting fixtures, and an Akari would make such a beautiful statement piece suspended from your ceiling.

2. Lumbar Pillows

Stray from using lots of pillows and layers of accessories. A bold lumbar pillow on the bed creates less clutter and intentionally allows for more breadth of space.

3. Bed Coverlets

I'm loving the ones from Cultiver that feel textured and significant but still so soft.

4. Linen Bedding

Linen bedding is a timeless and practical design. Layers of lived-in linens make a home feel well-loved and the bedroom feel calming, restorative, sensual, and artful. I love using linen to create a simple and refined yet relaxing space.
