I'm Prepping for My First Ski Trip—5 Trends I Would Wear on and Off the Slopes
Let's get one thing straight, when I say I'm prepping for my first ski trip, this 1) doesn't mean I have a trip booked and 2) should not in any way indicate that I actually know how to ski. But considering I've seen practically everyone on Instagram hitting the slopes, I feel as though I'm ready to try out the snow girl aesthetic. As a summer person, I already know I'll be more interested in the après ski—swaddled up in a ski lodge with a mulled cider in hand. Of course I would have to give the exercise part a go, though, and embrace all the skiwear trends while doing so.
Futuristic silver and tonal red would be my colours of choice, belted jumpsuits would be high up on my to-wear list and when it comes to accessories, I would embrace all things faux fur. If you actually have your trip booked (mine is still firmly only in my head, for now) then keep scrolling to see the 2024 ski trends worth trying out.
SKI TRENDS 2024:
1. Futuristic Silver
Style Notes: With silver trousers, jewellery, dresses and accessories being absolutely everywhere at the moment, it's no surprised it's filtered into skiwear, too. Suddenly I want to take inspiration from tin foil and embrace all things shiny, just like India in this perfect puffer.
Shop the Look:
Make like India and try out Perfect Moment's silver edit.
Flared trousers are also a mini ski trend, so you'll be ticking off two in one with these.
Just because they're an essential doesn't mean they can't be chic.
You'll be heading straight to the ski lodge in these.
This puffer is made from recycled, sustainably-sourced materials.
2. Fun Base Layers
Style Notes: Layering needn't be boring, and Zeena (aka the Queen of joyful colour) makes sure of it. Starting from the base, adding bright, bold, printed thermals and high neck tops underneath your ski look is an easy way to liven up a practical cold-weather uniform.
Shop the Look:
Leopard print is having a moment in general, so this can be worn on heavy rotation all winter.
Bright, bold colours will stand out against the snow.
3. Red, Red, Red
Style Notes: Another colour that's dominating 2024 is of course, red. I'm all for a tonal look, so naturally I'm thrilled that Fanny has taken the task at hand very seriously by even matching the skis to the outfit. Bravo.
Shop the Look:
Ski trousers with braces are the perfect way to show off those fun base layers.
I really how like how this puffer isn't too puffy, if you get what I mean?
4. Jumpsuits
Style Notes: Jumpsuits have been on the ski scene for a while, but for 2024, make like Tamum and go for a wide leg style. Also look out for easy-to-spot prints, belted iterations or retro shell suit '80s versions.
Shop the Look:
You can rent a similar style to Tamum's Perfect Moment ski suit over at rental site, Blanqo.
You'll be turning heads on and off the slopes in this Farm Rio showstopper.
The contrast panelling is cleverly placed and it's also water and windproof.
For a Princess Diana in the '80s look, hire this dream one-piece from Blanqo for your trip.
5. Faux Fur
Style Notes: Faux fur is synonymous with winter, but this winter, it's bigger than ever. Xiayan is channeling Kendall Jenner in this swimwear look. Is it practical? Of course not. Do I still long to head to the slopes to recreate it? Hell yes.
Shop Faux Fur:
Imagine this with a roll neck knit, trousers with braces and a hot choc in hand. Once you've finished your ski or snowboard, of course.
