My Style Is Simple, and These Are My Favorite Winter Outfit Ideas

As I’ve said before, my style is simple, but I like to think that that doesn’t mean it’s boring—and hopefully others agree. Yes, I love the occasional party dress, fun bag, or statement shoes, but I’ve always believed that when it comes to day-to-day style, you can achieve an impressive outfit without wearing anything out of the ordinary. That’s why my closet is mostly made of the best versions of basics with some "cooler" pieces sprinkled in here and there.

So when it comes to dressing for winter in New York City (which is especially hard for this L.A. transplant), I tend to stick to fuss-free outfits that as a package look polished, put together, and, of course, stylish. With that in mind, I scanned the world of celebrity style, street style, and Instagram style to narrow down my favorite looks to inspire me for the season ahead. What to expect? A lot of black and neutrals, basics, timeless silhouettes (and new ways to wear them), but most important, easy-to-copy combos. As for the rest? Simply continue on to see (and shop) for yourself.

As someone who's new to the trousers-tucked-into-boots thing, I'm already obsessed so I definitely plan on copying Rosie HW's all-neutral take in the coming days.

On Rosie Huntington-Whiteley: Bottega Veneta Coat ($3650), Necklace ($6700), and Bodysuit ($990); Celine bag; Jimmy Choo Mavis 100 Embossed High-Heel Tall Boots ($870)

Shearling coat, turtleneck, leather pants, chunky jewelry, pumps—now this is how you do all-black and look far from boring.

On Rihanna: Jennifer Fisher 3" Samira Hoops ($650); Balenciaga coat; Fenty Knit Turtleneck Top ($510); Bottega Veneta Tied-Cuff Leather Wide-Leg Trousers ($3950); Fenty Power Point Pumps 105 ($660)

I love any outfit that includes a leather trench right now, but I'm especially into Gigi's layered cardigan situation paired with a statement belt, blue jeans, and chunky boots.

On Gigi Hadid: 3x1 x Mimi Cuttrell Kirk Mid-Rise Boyfriend Jeans ($265); Dr. Martens 1460 8 Eye Boots ($150)

I might need to relegate this to a night out that I can ensure involves very little actual time outdoors, but nonetheless I'm inspired.

Since starting as an intern back in 2013, Nicole Akhtarzad Eshaghpour has held several roles here at Who What Wear, and she is currently Editor-at-Large. It was a less expected route, seeing as she was graduating from business school at USC when this all began, but it has turned out to be the best one for her. Fast-forward to 2024, and she's moved to NYC from her hometown of Beverly Hills and spends her workdays a little differently from when she was an intern starting out. Currently, she focuses on a weekly mélange of shopping content. As far as her personal style goes, she's largely drawn to classic pieces and neutral basics but will always make an exception for something colorful, printed, or bejeweled as long as it's deemed worthy enough. After all, the only thing she loves more than a good party is dressing up for one. On weekdays, she can usually be found at home eating something delicious for dinner and trying to force her husband to watch Summer House.
