Briogeo is the buzzy haircare line that's clean, cruelty-free, highly effective, inclusive of all hair types and textures, and is rapidly growing, all thanks to the company's founder and CEO, Nancy Twine. Prior to creating Briogeo in her NYC studio apartment (initially) while she worked a day job in commodities sales at Goldman Sachs, Twine grew up in West Virginia and started making beauty products with her grandmother in the kitchen. She later got a degree in finance at the University of Virginia, which took her to New York and Goldman Sachs at the age of 22.
Twine put together the business plan for Briogeo while working on Wall Street and finally left her job as a VP about six years later to pursue her passion. Her entrepreneurial spirit didn't fade while working in the corporate world, and her efforts clearly paid off. Briogeo is now Sephora's fastest-growing haircare brand (it's also sold at Net-a-Porter and Nordstrom), and it hit $35 million in revenue last year, which it's on track to double this year.
Head to iTunes and subscribe to Second Life to listen to this episode and find out how Twine created her multimillion-dollar company.
