Amanda de Cadenet has lived many lives: entrepreneur, journalist, author, photographer, activist, and CEO. She is the epitome of a career trailblazer. Having begun her career as a live-TV-show host in the UK at 15, de Cadenet possesses a wide range of skills that ultimately led her to become a creative force with an impactful career in media.
The latest titles added to de Cadenet’s extensive line of accomplishments are founder and CEO of Girlgaze. Initially created as an Instagram hashtag highlighting the female perspective, Girlgaze has now expanded into an online job marketplace connecting young female-identifying and nonbinary creatives, photographers, artists, and producers with jobs generating award-winning content in the creative space while receiving proper compensation. Creating Girlgaze is a lifetime achievement in and of itself, but prior to founding the platform, de Cadenet had multiple careers, each one playing a crucial role in her journey—from starring in 1995 film Four Rooms to transitioning to a photographer shooting notable subjects such as Drew Barrymore, Kirsten Dunst, Olivia Wilde, and Serena Williams to eventually hosting her own series, The Conversation With Amanda de Cadenet, which has featured female thought-leaders including Hillary Clinton and Gwyneth Paltrow.
Head to iTunes to subscribe to Second Life, and listen to this brand-new episode to hear all about how de Cadenet became a self-taught leader at a young age and how her various careers have now manifested in Girlgaze.
