From Now On, We Want Everything in This Bridesmaid Fabric
I was 12 the last time I wore satin. I wore a lilac, bead-embellished bridesmaid dress that matched with my sister's. It hadn't entered my mind or wardrobe since—until designers Rejina Pyo, Jason Wu, Sies Marjan, Nanushka and Balenciaga (to name just a few) started sending satin looks down the runway. Since then, I've reconsidered letting it re-enter my wardrobe for the first time in over a decade.
Synonymous with poofy '80s ballgowns and OTT bridesmaid dresses, this woven, shiny fabric can vary from a heavier duchess satin to a thinner, almost-crinkled looking crepe style. As many were quickly and fully on board with the return of the '90s silk slip dress and slip skirt, it's perhaps no great wonder that this slinky fabric is back in town.
AnneLaure Mais Moreau's pink satin skirt has that crinkle-factor that almost makes us love it more.
Far from being just for evening wear (although we do always equate satin with Carrie Bradshaw's pink Oscar de la Renta ball gown, gifted by Alexander Pertrozsky), the high-shine fabric has made a return for the everyday. Keep scrolling to see how our favourite influencers are wearing the fashion satin trend, and then shop our favourite pieces.
