Sarah Jessica Parker Wore These Non-"Bridal" Shoes to Her Wedding
Sarah Jessica Parker's fictional wedding shoes are as iconic as they come. (In case you need a reminder, Carrie Bradshaw wore Manolo Blahnik Hangisi Jewel Pumps, $1025, for her and Mr. Big's wedding.) But for her own nuptials to husband Matthew Broderick about a decade earlier in 1997, Parker didn't wear Manolo Blahnik or Jimmy Choo. She just revealed to Footwear News, at the launch of her new namesake line's new bridal collaboration with Gilt, that her shoes were by popular French designer Robert Clergerie (Gigi Hadid and Selena Gomez are two of the brand's many celebrity fans). Parker said, "I wore teal blue velvet Robert Clergeries with a rounded toe and a classic Clergerie heel from Barneys." Leave it to the innately stylish Parker to choose decidedly non-"bridal" shoes years before Carrie Bradshaw made it a thing. (It's also worth pointing out that Parker's entire bridal look was nontraditional, as she wore a black Morgane le Fay dress.)
Parker also told Footwear News that the shoes in her bridal collection were inspired by women who have chosen her SJP designs as their wedding shoe in the past. She says of those brides, "It's not predictable. And you can't be sure of it. And it's rarely white. Most of our brides end up picking color."
